In your several months at S.H.I.E.L.D., this was, quite possibly, the worst time to be on guard duty.

Guarding a socio/psychopath currently pacing in a cage, his face stretched into a smile that made you want to explode.

Criminal he may be, but damn he was attractive.

"Fury told me to bring you some books," you said, shoving them through a hatch. "Voila."

He stared at you unnervingly. "What would you have them do to me, Y/L/N?"

You froze. Everyone here referred to you as Agent Shadow.

"How do you know that name?" you asked him in a dangerously cold voice, less than a second away from gutting him for daring to utter those letters upon his lips.

"I know everything, Y/N Y/L/N," he whispered. "I know your mind."

Suddenly, your head felt cold, like there was a blanket of ice squeezing your brain.

EVERYTHING, Loki's voice whispered in your head. You could physically feel him going through your memories, finding every last thought about him, taking them in with relish.

"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!" you screamed, banging a fist against the glass. He smiled, and the cold slipped away.

"My, my, am I that attractive?" he grinned, deviously. A tear slipped down your cheek, and you palmed it away roughly, hoping he hadn't noticed.

By his smirk, you guessed he had.

"Stay away from me," you ordered, attempting to rid your voice of its shake. "Never do that again."

"Oh, dear Y/N," he whispered. "Did you really think I would want to know what you thought of me if I didn't feel that way as well?"

You turn to him, face of stone cracking but holding. "Stop lying. It's not fair."

"I'm not." Loki's facade slipped away. "You are beautiful. I'm sorry, love. I have no idea how one courts a maiden of Midgard."

You smiled slightly at his flattery, enjoying how quickly he could flip from one extreme to the other. "One starts with a date."

You both placed a hand on the glass in the same place, mere inches apart. "Then I'll see you when I'm out of here, beautiful Y/N."

You couldn't help but smile, hearing the subtle destruction hinted in his words.

"Agent Shadow, is everything secure?" Fury crackled in your earpiece.

You raised a hand to the side of your face to respond, with a smirk in Loki's direction.

"Yes sir. No danger at all."
