*I want to give a quick warning that there will be mentions of childhood abuse and homophobia.
Kojiro stood there, hand cupping his best friend's cheek, ready to finally give in to his decade long temptation, and Kaoru beat him to it. His brain couldn't process what was happening, all he knew was he was kissing Kaoru.
It seemed to end entirely too quickly, leaving him speechless, breathless, and yet starving for more. He watched Kaoru turn a deep shade of red, looking away, and Kojiro was having none of that."What in the hell was that?" Kojiro finally asked, gritting his teeth to avoid pouncing on the man before him.
Kaoru exhaled sharply, trying his best to mentally prepare himself for what was about to happen."I apologize, I shouldn't have done that. I just got wrapped up in your excitement I suppose." Poor Kaoru was trying so very hard to play off his usual cold exterior, but internally he was shaking.
That wasn't enough to satisfy Kojiro, who was now leaning into the door frame, all but pinning Kaoru under him."You kissed me."
Kaoru's eyes strayed to the floor."I did."
Kojiro let out a hearty breath, an odd mix of a forced chuckle and a stifled laugh."That was a pathetic kiss."
That instantly irked Kaoru. It took everything he had to gather the courage to kiss him, and now it wasn't good enough? Was Kojiro actually making fun of Kaoru?
Kaoru stared at him now, trying to read his facial expression. Kojiro appeared dead serious, but also almost determined."I'm so sorry to disappoint you then, you damn gorilla." He shoved passed Kojiro, feeling embarrassed and incredibly annoyed. Of all the scenarios he had played out in his head of how this would go down, this wasn't one of them.
Quite frankly, it pissed him off.
Kojiro snorted, right on Kauro's heels.
"I would be more than happy to teach you how to kiss properly." Kojiro teased, right on Kaoru's side again.
Kaoru just glared at him. His mind was now trapped in a tornado of emotions, not sure what to do or say next.So he chose to stay quiet.
Kojiro watched him carefully, trying to balance the urge to kiss him properly, and trying to understand what Kaoru was thinking. It wasn't working out in his favor.
A few minutes of silence felt like hours, until Kojiro finally caved.
"Wanna tell me what that was all about?" Kojiro asked softly, all previous signs of mockery had subsided from his tone.
Kaoru glanced over at him, still quiet. He shrugged his shoulders, but leaned his head against Kojiro's shoulder. So far, Kojiro didn't seem to hate him, so he would at least enjoy his company while he could.
"I just felt like it. Like I said, I must've just gotten caught up in the excitement. I'm very proud of you."
That wasn't all a lie at least.
Kojiro wrapped an arm around him, pulling him close.
"You don't want to talk about it?" Kaoru shook his head. He had some how been able to escape from his actions unscathed, he hoped to keep it that way.
'Definitely not.'
Kojiro sighed, but let himself up off the bed to change his outfit.
"Alright, no worries. We forget it happened."
For some reason, neither Kaoru not Kojiro we're exactly thrilled with that, but it at least pushed the situation out of their way until later. But Kaoru didn't want to forget about it.
Kojiro didn't want to forget about it.
It was enough to spike Kaoru's anxiety, his traitorous brain once again playing cruel tricks on him.
