Alcohol abuse
—————————————I woke up from an annoying ring and groaned as my head felt like it was about to explode. I sat up from my kitchen floor and held onto the counter to support me when I stood up. The ringing didn't stop and I growled. I stumbled my way to my coffee table and grabbed my phone and answered, not thinking twice who it was. "Hello?" I huffed with irritation. "Hey [y/n]. It's been a while" an all too familiar voice spoke over the phone. "I'm hanging up now", "Wait, [y/n] please hear me out. This is an important mission and you don't have to fight--it has to deal with my friend" the voice still talking. "No fighting huh? Is this the friend that tried to kill you guys? I may not be with you guys anymore but I watch the news. Oh hey, how's Wanda holding up?" I quickly asked.
It's been years since I left The Avengers and they've changed so much. "She's doing fine. She misses how you would come visit and yes it's the friend that tried to kill us but that's not the point. My friend has some kids--" I quickly hung up. Don't get me wrong, I don't mind kids but I've had bad experiences with them. My phone rang again but I ignored it and grabbed an open bottle of whiskey and jugged the rest of it down. I soon turned off my phone after my phone rang four times. "He's trying to make my brain explode" I growled. I headed back to my kitchen and grabbed a trash bag and put some empty alcohol bottles in it then went to my fridge. "Budlight, no, Vodka, no, Tequila, no, WhiteClaw, no, wait, where's all my Truly? Damnit" I ruffled my hair. I closed my fridge and went to my bathroom to take a quick shower

I grabbed a shopping cart and headed inside the store. I went into the alcohol section and grabbed what I needed. I looked at the others but I've tried most of them to know that It's not as good as other brands. I then headed towards the bakery that was inside the store and got a few pastries and a small cake. I soon paid for everything while everyone watched with judgmental eyes since I went overboard with the alcohol.
I walked out with the cart and went to my car and loaded the trunk. "[y/n]" a random voice spoke and I yelped, causing the cars to beep. I turned to see Clint and Nat. With one motion with my hands, the beeping stopped. "Don't do that. I might've caused an explosion for all I know" I grumbled at them.
"Sorry about that" Clint chuckled then looked in my trunk then his small smile faded. "By the look of that, I see you haven't gone and seen a therapist like we suggested" Clint crossed his arms. "I don't need one. They don't help a lot anyways. They just tell you how to fix your problem then give you medicine and hope that you'll feel better and never discuss your problems to them again" I said as I closed the trunk and looked back at Clint and Nat. "[y/n] hear us out please. Hydra is trying to go after some kids. I know how you feel about both kids and Hydra" Nat spoke up. Hydra going after kids? I mean it's a common thing they do but Clint and Nat seem very concerned and serious about this.
"Who's kids are they anyway if this mission is so important?" I gave up and listened to them. "You know about Steve's friend Bucky, right?" Clint asked and I nodded. "Well seeing as you don't know him very well, he stayed with us but felt that it was better if he took a break to find himself" Clint explained and made sure I was paying attention. "He did but when he was, he fell in love with a skanky lady" Nat hit Clint's shoulders. "Sorry" Clint apologised quickly then continued.
"Well they started dating then it turns out she got pregnant but after that first pregnancy, she changed. She started drinking more and started snapping at Bucky then she got pregnant again and as soon as she gave birth, she packed her things and left poor Bucky. He's struggling to take care of his kids. For a while things went back to normal until Hydra attempted to kidnap the oldest. She managed to escape and hid and called us" Clint explained. "Steve is getting worried now that Hydra has found out Bucky has kids. He's asking for your help--", "Because I had a kid once?" I cut Nat off. Nat felt sorry for even trying to bring up that I had a kid. I sighed. "Alright--I'll do it but as soon as fighting is involved, I'm taking the kids and running and I expect you guys to fight them off" I growled. I know, it was selfish of me to say something like that but--I had my reasons. "I'll follow you guys. I'm not leaving my things behind" Clint and Nat nodded at me in agreement. We hopped in our cars and I followed them to their new Avengers building. "So much has changed" I sighed to myself.

I parked in the garage they have and came out. I opened my trunk and grabbed out a can of Budlight Seltzer, the strawberry one and the bag of pastries. I opened the can and drank it and walked up to Nat and Clint and saw them staring at me in disbelief. "Want some?" I offered but they quickly declined. I shrugged my shoulders and followed them inside their building.
They took me to what seemed to be their living room. Steve was talking with Tony on the couch but then turned and looked at Nat and Clint. "We got her to cooperate," Clint sat down. "Hey Steve, Tony" I greeted. "Nice to see you again [y/n]" Steve sat up and smiled. "How you holding up?" Tony asked me and smiled as well.
"I am great. Just fantastic" I sarcastically say as I drink my BudLight. "I see you're still drinking" Tony pointed out the obvious. "Mhmm" I simply say. "Thanks for coming. I know it must've been hard for you these past few years" Steve frowned. "Yeah, no problem. Now what is my mission?" I finished up my BudLight. Someone then entered the room. "Buck, Hey" Steve smiled with glee. As Steve was talking to the person I threw a bag of cookies to Tony and he thanked me.
"The rest is yours Clint. I know your kids love these. Except the cake. That's mine" I handed the bag of pastries to Clint. "Oh there's also brownies for Nat" I winked at Nat knowing she liked brownies. "Thanks [y/n]. The kids would be happy" Clint smiled. Steve cleared his throat and everyone looked at him. "[y/n] this is James Barnes but we call him Bucky" Steve introduced Bucky. "It's nice to meet you. Steve wouldn't stop talking about you whenever we talked" I smiled. "My names [y/n] [y/l/n]" I introduced myself.
"It's nice to meet you as well" Bucky said but didn't seem to smile. "[y/n] will be the nanny for your kids and if anything goes wrong, [y/n] is there to protect them. She is excellent at what she does. Trust me on this Buck" Steve explained basically what I'd be doing. "Steve. I appreciate your concern for me and my kids but I can handle it" Bucky reasoned with Steve. "How old are your kids?" I asked and kinda changed the subject. "5 and 15" Bucky answered. "Are they here right now? I know you brought them but just a confirmation" Bucky didn't take that to his liking. "Yeah. I'll go get them." Bucky gave me a small glare. He then walked out the room. "Quick, do I smell like alcohol?" I quickly asked Clint. "Yeah?" Clint said confused. I did a hand motion to myself. "Now?" I asked. "Nope," Clint answered. "Good. If I'm seeing these kids, I gotta make sure they feel safe around me, especially with the moody teen" I explained. We then waited for Bucky's kids to show up. It felt like forever. I also started to remember things I wanted to forget but I have to deal with this until then.
