Be Mine

I stand watching my Angel looking down at me with tears rushing down my face. It felt like all time stopped as we looked to each other. I couldn't comprehend what just happened.

Erik killed someone.

He hung an innocent man. Well, innocent enough. Buquet was quite the troublesome man, and was rather perverted towards us girls, but he never did anything to harm another that i knew of. He killed him.

I had to get out of there.

I felt someone's hand on my arm and turned around to see who it was.

"Christine we need to talk." Raoul said with a sorrowful tone.

"Raoul! Oh goodness not here. Follow me!" he did have to talk. But not here. Erik could be lurking around.

I grabbed him by the hand and ran off in a full sprint. I was taking him to the roof. The only place where we could be alone and speak without the chaos around us.

We ran up several stairs and I ignored every shout Raoul threw at me. I would not answer him until we were finally at the top. It began to snow but I didn't care. We were away from everyone.

"Why have you brought us here? We must return!" Raoul spoke with an angry tone.

"Don't take me back there! He will find me and quite possibly kill me or you!" I exclaimed.

"Forget this waking nightmare Christine! He isn't real! The Phantom of the Opera is not real!" Oh this man will not listen to me.

"Raoul I've been there! I've been to his world of unending night and the daylight ceases to exists. I've seen him Raoul and I will never forget that sight," I returned with as much force as I could. There was no point in lying to him. I have met the Phantom of the Opera and I couldn't turn back time. I glanced over to Raoul who stared at me as though I was crazy. Of course he would think this was nonsense. But all those scared thoughts I was having began to fade as I remember the look Erik gave me when I saw him on the catwalk.

"But those eyes. His eyes. Held all of the sadness of the world. They were almost pleading and they both threatened and adored. I could see it. His music as well! Oh his music filled my spirit with such a strange yet sweet sound," my voice faltered as I turned from Raoul. He thought I was crazy or better yet idiotic. But Erik. Oh Erik. He made me feel so different, so special and I felt a connection of longing and wanting to be loved like him. He lived such a horrible life. And as Delilah, I did too.

"Christine..." Raoul whispered but I didn't turn around.

"Christine!" he said again much more serious and stern. I looked to him and met his gaze finally after what felt like ages. He looked confused and upset. Nowhere near concerned but he walked over to me slowly. A strange and familiar feeling of someone's eyes watching came over me.

He placed his hands on my shoulders and made me look to him.

"No more talk of darkness or monsters. Forget these wide-eyes fears of yours. I'm here and nothing will harm you, your fears are far behind you. Let me be the one to bring you shelter and peace. Let me be your freedom," he spoke softly.

"Raoul... " I spoke. What is he doing?

"Christine, all I ask of you is to be mine. I can take you away from all of this chaos. You have the choice."

My mouth hung open slightly and I tried to speak with no words coming out. He proposed to me. My childhood sweetheart proposed to me. Raoul lowered down to one knee and took my my right hand into his. My other placed over my mouth. I felt a tear roll down my face.

"Christine...I love you."
