Generation 4 Monster

Gore Magala is a unique monster introduced in Monster Hunter 4. It shares traits with some Elder Dragons, such as six limbs: two clawed wings and four legs. Dark, mostly black plates cover its body- the fanged jaws are actually just part of its exoskeleton. Its wings resemble a tattered, torn cape, and are covered in jet black, fur-like particles. The wing claws seem to possess opposable thumbs which can be utilized in different ways- running, grabbing prey, and remaining genrally stable are some examples. When not faced with battle, Gore tends to use its claws to latch its wings to its body, creating an effective cloak around it. 

Gore Magala seems to lack visible eyes. This is mainly due to the fact that it is actually the juvenile form of the Elder Dragon, Shagaru Magala, and its eyes have simply not yet developed. To make up for this blindness, Gore releases the small hairs from its wings so it can better understand its environment. Once it catches an interesting scent, it will release these hairs- they will then attach themselves to a target. Gore Magala will be able to sense said target's heat energy and be able to locate it from that. Doing this seems to heighten all of its other senses. As its senses increase in ability, the underside of its wings will turn from blue to bright purple. Once Gore's senses are peaked, two bright , glowing purple antennae (feelers) will emerge from its head. It will begin walking using its wings as well, and it will release large amounts of hair into the air- the sky will darken as it would during an eclipse. This is known as its Frenzy Mode, or Rage State.

Gore Magala's most notable ability is its Frenzy Virus. This virus is spread from its scales and hairs, and even through its breath. The Frenzy Virus causes abnormalities in other monsters- those infected will have increased physical strength, and a decrease in natural defense. The virus makes all monsters unusually violent and usually kills them within days. However, a few individuals are able to survive and utilize the effects for its own use. Such monsters are known as Apex Monsters.

Gore Magalas are highly aggressive and elusive monsters. Despite this high level of aggression, they also show high amounts of intelligence- some have been reported to play dead before slipping away at the first opportunity.
