Lagiacrus
The Lord of the Seas
Japanese Translation: Ragiakurusu
Nicknames: Lagi, Lagia
Species: Leviathan
Monster Size: 72- 109 feet
Monsters in Relation: Ivory Lagiacrus, Abyssal Lagiacrus
Generation 3 Monster
Lagiacrus is a mostly blue leviathan that is well-adapted to aquatic living. It sports a hood-like structure on its neck, which is used for sunbathing, and its tail is frilled for ease of swimming. It has several large, mostly reddish-brown dorsal spikes that are used to release electricity. These spikes glow white when it is using electrical attacks, and when it is enraged, lightning crackles around its jaws. Lagiacrus is able to stay underwater for about half a day before having to come up for air.
While it is adapted for life underwater, Lagiacrus is also capable of fighting and surviving on land. It uses its hood-like crest to sunbathe- when fully sunbathed, its scales turn a grayish-blue color, and its dermal spikes gain more of a red tint. Upon returning to the sea, its striking blue coloration will return and its spikes turn more of a beige color.
Lagiacrus is at the top of the food chain. Its use of the thunder element means it can easily overpower many of the underwater species it preys on. When it ventures onto land, even predators suchs as Rathian and Rathalos- who could pose a threat to the leviathan just as it could pose a threat to them- try to keep far out of its way.
Not much is known about the Lagiacrus' behavior or breeding habits, save that they are highly aggressive and show no fear of humans- more often than not, they are the cause of missing boats or ships.
