Sunday morning was filled with waking up naked, sore, nauseous, and hungover.
Pete had actually remembered the previous night's activities when he saw Mikey sleeping softly next to him. He didn't know whether leaving or staying was a good idea but he worried that someone might come in. Though he also didn't want to wake Mikey either since he looked so peaceful. He sat in silence, save for Mikey's light breathing, trying to decide what his course of action would be.
Eventually, he decides to press a light kiss against the boy's temple, which luckily wakes him up.
Mikey rubs his head, as if it'd make the headache go away, and picks his glasses up off the nightstand to examine his surroundings. He didn't know the room but he definitely knew the man sitting next to him.
"Good morning" Pete bit his lip hesitantly.
Mikey yawns, "morning"
They started at each other momentarily before Mikey took the initiative to lean in and kiss Pete lightly. Pete hesitates longer than Mikey likes but finally he kissed back.
Mikey pulled away, unable to look into Pete's eyes. "I'm sorry" he mumbles
Pete bites his lip, still unaware of what he wants. "I might like you Mikeyway"
"Might?" He repeats, unaware if he should be happy or hurt.
"Kinda" Pete exerts a reassuring smile. It is better to love than to never love at all.
Mikey looked down at his shoes, hiding the blush on his cheeks, which Pete thought was adorable.
"I'll see you around" Pete cupped the the boy's cheek, caressing the soft skin lightly.
---
Pete joined the two girls against the wall on the first day of school, already hating everyone in the hallways.
"How was lover boy?" Cass smirked "you went home so fast last night"
"Pete was fine" Mikey hid a small smile.
"Speak of the devil..." Kayla mumbled looking over at Pete, who was surrounded by other jock heads who were joking loudly. Once they saw Mikey, the jokes turned to him, snickering loud enough for them to hear.
Thankfully, Mikey has two hands to cover Kayla and Cass' mouth, blocking the obscenities they want to scream at Pete.
Once the guys left earshot, Mikey's weak arms fell off the girls' mouths.
"Guys. We're not dating, besides you beating him up wouldn't help, especially since his friends don't know hes gay or whatever."
"He can't treat you like shit" Kayla grumbled as the bell rang.
"Please don't do anything" Mikey pleaded
"We'll try" they shook their heads, heading to class.
Mikey's first class was maths and as soon as he got there, his life crumpled before him. According to the seating chart he sat right next to the one and only, Pete Wentz.
"Careful Pete, your ass isn't safe" Aaron laughed, punching Pete playfully.
"You fucking tard" Pete laughed along, making Mikey reconsider home schooling and being forever asexual.
The teacher quiets everyone down and begins to go over rules. Pete pushes a small folded note over to Mikey, who promptly opened it.
I'm so sorry.
You're not really trying to stop it... Mikey scribbled back.
I know. I'm sorry...I'm just confused. Talk later maybe?
Mikey sighed and nodded.
The next hour was the same thing but in a chemistry lab. Mikey and Pete were lab partners and he concluded that the reason was because of how close their last names were.
A new pair of Pete's friends teased Mikey again and Pete tried to something but backed down right away. Mikey was upset but couldn't complain, at least he tried.
Third period Mikey has AP history with Cass and Pete has economics with Kayla.
Fourth period Mikey and Kayla have study hall but they opt to go to the band room and help freshmen with their music.
Fifth period Mikey, Pete, Kayla, and Cass all have gym together. Mikey wasn't too thrilled about the locker room situation, hearing complaints about having to change near the gay guy. Pete, was one of those guys, trying to act like the rest of the guys.
"I know right? I guess I have to keep everything on the top shelf" Pete joked.
Mikey felt a pain in his chest, wondering why he thought Pete would actually like him.
Then lunch...
Kayla, Cass, Mikey, Brendon and Brendons boyfriend Ryan all sat at a table.
"What's the deal with you Pete?" Brendon asked.
"They're fucking and Mikey totally likes him" Kayla gossips.
"Yeah I don't think it's going anywhere" Mikey grumbles.
Kayla and Cass were obviously upset but seemed to be planning their secret revenge.
Mikey wanted to just avoid the issue so he got up to throw his trash out. Halfway to the rubbish bin, his tray flew upwards, dropping his lettuce all over the ground, thank god he didn't have anything liquid to splash on his chest. When he looks up to see the culprit, he sees a meaty asshat named Andy and Pete behind him. Pete has very apologetic eyes but a fake smile on his face that laughed sourly.
Mikey just looked angrily at him and picked up the the tray to throw out.
Luckily, he was around the corner so his friends didn't see and get agressive.
Sixth hour Mikey, Kayla and Cass have band, which perked Mikey up as usual.
Finally, seventh hour. Kayla had some advanced English, Cass has creative writing and due to the fact that the Mikey must've pissed off a god or something because Pete was there with him in English.
After school Kayla and Cass went off to drama club so Mikey walked home, having stage fright and such.
When he arrived to his empty house he fell to the bed with a heavy sigh. Music danced out of the speakers, calming his knotted stomach.
Around five Mikey forces his heavy out of bed to answer the door when the doorbell cut through the calmness.
To his surprise, Pete stood at his doorstep with puppy dog eyes and coffee. Being a total weakling, Mikey crumpled, inviting the boy in, leading him back to his bedroom.
Pete lays on the squishy bed and Mikey stayed to the edge of the bed.
"I'm sorry for not doing any better" Pete frowns
Mikey rubs the boy's ankle "it's okay. I understand" and he did, he had to put up a front because he didn't want his friends to judge him.
"I'll try harder, they're just stupid guys ya know?"
Mikey nodded, the words spat at him didn't bother him, though, the man who he has feelings for confusing him is what really hurt. Plus, he wasn't even sure where they stood in their relationship, making it thirty times more stressful, not to mention the overwhelming fear to actually ask Pete and he'd freak out and run.
"You know, I'm still a little... weirded out with the whole dude thing. I just... let's just take things slow. Not be official or whatever okay?" Pete thankfully explained and Mikey was okay with it. He knew it would be okay, he hoped it'd be okay.
