'Minji, are you doing anything tomorrow?'

'Yes.' Not missing a beat, she answers the question.

The voice of the familiar male that, for some unknown reason, just could not take a hint even when she has said 'no' multiple times on multiple occasions, resurfaces yet again, asking the same question, yet. Again.

Men, she thought in disgust.

Often Minji wonders what goes on in the man's mind, and just who exactly contributed to his life experience that resulted in this infinite confidence he scarily to possess. Hell, if it wasn't because she was getting tired of being hit on constantly, she'd say she's jealous of this confidence. She'd like some herself, even.

'Yah, you didn't even stop to think!'

'I didn't need to.'

A loud grunt was let out by the man before she heard footsteps storming away from her. She looked up and stared with bemusement at the bulky figure walking away from her. Rolling her eyes, she dunk her head back into the book she was reading.

It was a favourite story of hers, a book that's worn out, yellowish pages, its spine full of lines and multiple tabs plastered on the sides. The book looks more than well loved, it was cherished. It told stories of a young woman seeking adventure, love and truth of the world — she loved the elegant writing, grand storytelling and the heartfelt characters, wishes she could turn the story into a film someday.

Someday, but not today. Sighing for the hundredth time within that hour alone, her mind focused back onto the words neatly placed after one another, drowning in the fictional world of Shuli and her companions.

'Was that Byung Ho?'

'Yeah, unfortunately.' Minji replied with a hint of annoyance in her voice, definitely not okay with being interrupted from her reading session, twice that day. Giving in to what seemed like fate that seemed to be orchestrating her denied time with her beloved story, she closed the book, adjusting herself in her seat to face her friend Ah In, oblivious to Minji's annoyance. 'Some men, they never learn when to quit do they?'

Ah In turned back to her coffee in hand, gently blowing off hot steam from the tip of her mug. Minji smiled. 'Never.'

'Anyways, we're having a little get together this weekend, you coming?'

'Eh, we'll see. Kinda wanna catch up with my best friend—'

'Minji-ya, that book isn't—

'Yes, she is. I'm not coming. I'm almost finished with this book and I wanna savour every page, every sentence, every word! Let me be isolated, please!'

It's not that Minji hated socialising. She hated partying. The sweaty bodies, the loud music— it seems cliche at this point, but she'd prefer actual, small gatherings of like 4–5 people and have light yet thoughtful conversations. She's a little old school in that sense, but she loves it this way. She's done the whole partying hard life in high school and she's fine missing out on 1–2 parties once in a while as she's grown into adulthood. (okay, maybe she's okay not attending any at all)

Ah In could only give her a blank stare, unamused by her friend's antiques. 'How old are you?'

'Okay, that's sensitive.'

'How old are you?'

Minji's face morphed into one of disgust. '25.'

Ah In raised an eyebrow. Minji stared at her in annoyance. 'You know, not all women want to build a family this fast.'

Ah In sighed in defeat. 'Fine, I wasn't even insinuating that but sure. The party is actually quite nearby your place. If I happen to get drunk, you're on speed dial.'

'Yah!'

'Bye!'

Minji cursed and hit her head with the book she was holding, please don't get too drunk. Please just let me have the evening to myself.

I have a posting schedule!

Sort of.

New chapter every Friday and if I have extra time, Sunday! Both days would be around 12PM Malaysian time as it's the hour I usually work on my stuff. Hopefully by announcing this it'll hold me accountable to actually get the shit done lol. Anyways, a slow start, I know, but hopefully it'll start to pickup soon!

As always, vote, comment and follow!
