"You know, I really think-"

"I don't care what you think."

"Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed today, wonder who that could be."

"Stop talking before I sew your mouth shut, Geonu."

"What happened to him?" Heeseung muttered after the two boys had rounded the corner, listening to the pair's bickering fade away with their footsteps down the hall. Next to him, K shrugged, having been putting up with his friend's antics for far too long to care.

"Dunno. Something's got Jimin riled up alright."

"Hey guys, what's up?"

The duo nearly jumped three feet in the air after a new voice interrupted their conversation, Heeseung nearly losing his balance and whacking poor EJ in the stomach. K, the innocent bystander, stifled a laugh as he watched Heeseung profusely apologize to the younger as he helped him off the floor.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I swear it was an accident!" Heeseung stumbled over his words after EJ dusted himself off, only eliciting a laugh from the younger boy.

"Don't worry about it, I suppose it was my fault for popping up so suddenly. But seriously, what were you two doing peeping out of a doorway?" EJ asked as he motioned to the now open door, glancing across the hall at an empty room.

Heeseung glanced at his eldest hyung, who looked back at him with an equally as innocent expression.

He sighed.

"Jimin's sort of pissed off today for some reason, I guess?" he shrugged, idly kicking up some dust from the floor. EJ suddenly snapped his fingers, facial expression shifted into one of less confusion. "Oh, did he really get mad about someone ripping a page out of his book?"

"Wait, Jimin reads?"

"Yeah, weird right?"

"I haven't picked up a book in ages, now that I think about it."

"Yeah that's because you're old and have been out of school, for like a million years."

"Heeseung, you're only 4 years younger than me."

"Boomer."

K raised an eyebrow, making both Heeseung and EJ, who had nothing to do with the situation, flinch and cower in their spots. "I'm just kidding I swear!" Heeseung defended himself, warily eyeing his hyung's expression in case he would need to scramble.

A light chuckle escaped K's lips before he ruffled both of his younger friend's hair, throwing an arm over both of their shoulders.

"Apology accepted. Now, how does some lunch sound?"

EJ perked up.

"Lunch?"

As the morning sun began to rise higher in the sky, the morning birds began to awake from their deep slumber, and Jake Shim threw open his front door.

The air was cold, settling at a frosty twenty degrees, and the brunette pulled the collar of his coat higher over his mouth as a gust of wind blew through the air. He didn't mind it much, as anyone who lived in a temperate climate shouldn't, but the cold temperature prickling at his exposed skin was a sensation he never enjoyed. Or no one ever enjoyed, for that matter.

The only exposed skin on his body was his face, pale complexion peaking out of the pile of clothes he had wrapped himself in before leaving the house. Heavy-cotton pants were tucked into a pair of boots, if only for insulation, and he immediately mentally patted himself on the back for his choice of clothing once he had stepped outside.

He pulled his scarf tighter around his neck as he dipped his chin down to nuzzle the lower half of his face into the soft material, shielding his already-red nose from the wind.

With the sound of leaves crunching beneath his boots ringing through his ears, boy set off towards his destination.

Fifteen minutes later, Jake found himself stepping through the doorway of a small cafe, breathing out a sigh of relief when a wave of warm air hit his face. Pulling the scarf down, he glanced over the menu before reaching into his front pocket and fished out his credit card, clutching it between his fingers as he approached the counter.

"One medium hot chocolate, please."

One swipe of a credit card later, he walked out of the cafe with one undone scarf, one pair of cold lips and one cup of steaming hot chocolate.

Taking a small sip of his drink, his lips upturned into a small smile after the hot liquid went down his throat. Heat spread through his limbs as he continued to sip and walk, feeling more and more content with his body temperature rising just the slightest. At least he wasn't a cold, tired boy, he was just a slightly less cold, tired boy.

Just as he stepped off a crosswalk, his phone pinged. After patting around his pockets, he grinned after reading the notification.
