"We all remember the bed time stories of our childhoods. The shoe fits Cinderella, the frog turns into a prince, sleeping beauty is awakened with a kiss. Once upon a time and then they lived happily ever after. Fairy tales, the stuff of dreams. The problem is, fairy tales don't come true. It's the other stories, the ones that begin with dark and stormy nights and end in the unspeakable. It's the nightmares that always seem to become reality. -The person that invented the phrase "Happily ever after" should have his ass kicked, so hard!"
"and i adore you from afar like an angel in the night"
George was in the locker room with Aurora. "I don't know when I'll get to retake the test with everything hitting the fan and we're up all night with Heather", he said.
"You'll be ready whenever the test is. And I'm gonna help you"
"Okay, then"
"I love the snow"
"I think it's bad sign, since it's fall"
Beck and Aurora went over to Cristina and Meredith. "Sorry we're late", Aurora said. "I don't want to hear an excuse", Cristina said. "So, I have this recurring of Derek dying", Meredith said.
"The hospital is number 12"
"I'm thinking about asking Derek to move in so I can work on my fear. It's a big step and I don't want to screw it up. I mean, I've made a lot of mistakes in the past, including sleeping with George"
Beck and Aurora gave each other wide-eyes, but didn't comment. "Do you think it's the right thing to do?" Meredith asked Cristina. Cristina pager went off and she walked away with Beck following her.
Bailey was waiting in the ambulance bay with Alex, Meredith and Aurora. "Someone will show up", Bailey said. "I refuse to believe the rankings and I'm determined to give the best care possible. I'm still the best I trained you, so you're still the best". Cristina and Beck came outside too. "That's a crap plan", Cristina said. "We're just waiting for someone to be so badly injured that they have no choice but to come to Seattle Grace because Mercy West is too far away", Meredith said. "Would God be okay with that?" Aurora asked. "I forgot about God, I want to go back inside", Bailey said before a damaged limousine pulled up. The driver, a bleeding lady in an evening gown, got out of the limousine. "I-I-I drove here all by myself", she stammered. The woman in the passenger seat was bloody as well. "We're not the patients", she said. "The patient is Billy, our driver, he flew through the windshield". In the back, another dressed up woman was holding Billy. "Please help him", she said. "Get me a gurney", Bailey said. Cristina and Beck applied pressure to stop a bleeding while Meredith and Aurora took the other woman inside.
Kelly stood at the nurses station where Mark was nearby, she tried not to look at him. George approached Mark. "Can you suture Sarabeth's face?" he asked him. "You're paging me for a head lac. Are you some kind of special moron?" Mark replied. "Truth and wisdom". He walked off. George went over to Kelly and sighed. "He's an ass", Kelly said. George nodded.
Ambulances arrived while Bailey, Richard, Cristina, Beck and Aurora were waiting. Richard and Aurora opened up an ambulance, revealing an army doc working on a patient. Aurora furrowed her brows. "He trached the patient in the field", the paramedic said. "You trached a man with a pen?" Richard asked, stunned. "So?" the army doc said. They took the patient inside. "His leg is bleeding", Cristina said. "That's hot", she and Beck said in unison. Aurora then realised who he was.
Cristina and Beck were with Vincent in the trauma room when Derek and Erica came in. They examined the man when Betty came in. "Vincent!" she exclaimed. Aurora took her outside. "He has a skull fracture", Derek said. "This man gets an express ticket to the OR", Erica concluded. "Can I scrub in?" Beck and Cristina said in unison. "Oh that shit's getting creepy", Beck said. "Yes, you can", Erica said.
The doctors had taken over from the army doc. Alex looked impressed while Mark looked irritated. "I'm gonna need extra hands in the OR", Mark said. "You can have Ripa and O'Malley", Bailey said. "Damn it", Kelly muttered.
Aurora was standing near Richard and the army doc. "You're bleeding", Richard said to him. "My car was right behind theirs at the limo, so I caught some impact", he said.
"I'm still so impressed at how you triaged that man"
"I'm Major Owen Hunt. I just came back to the country on leave"
"Dr Sloan, take care of Major Hunt's leg"
Richard walked off. Aurora smiled at Owen. "You remember me?" he asked, smiling. "Yeah, I do", she said, still smiling. Owen walked away and Aurora, slightly confused, followed him.
"You should freeze him if you want him to have a shot at walking again", Owen said to Derek and Callie as he stood in the doorway of the room.
"I'd appreciate it if you didn't give my patient and his wife false hope", Derek said to Owen outside the room. "You should look into the research", Owen said. "I've seen it", Callie said. "That patient was in his 20s and in primary cardiac health, contrary to my patient", Derek said. "Dr Torres, tell the family it's not an option, despite Uncle Sam's assessment". Aurora took Owen to go close up his leg.
Aurora was getting ready to stitch up Owen's leg, but he took a stapler and did it himself. Her eyes widened. "You're not numbed", she remarked. "So?" he said. "I can't reach the angle for the final staples. Can you?" She smiled at him and bent down to do so. "I'm impressed", she said, looking up at him. "Thanks", he said, smiling at her. She smiled and they locked eyes. The moment was interrupted by Callie coming in looking for Owen. Aurora got up. "I'll leave you to it", she said. They maintained eye contact for a brief moment before Aurora left the room, with Owen's eyes following her retreating figure.
George was having difficulties doing a procedure. "It's okay, George, take your time", Kelly encouraged. "What are you, his little cheerleader?" Mark asked. Kelly sighed and glared at him. "O'Malley, go check if the OR is ready", Mark said. George left. Mark started doing the procedure himself. "I think you're a little unnecessarily mean to George", Kelly said. "I just think you should be nicer. He just became a father and he's tired".
"You're an intern, why are you talking to me?"
"Mark, seriously?"
"What?"
"Look, I'm sorry that I bruised your ego but you can't take it out on me at my job. It's unprofessional. I mean, just because I don't like you back-"
"Woah, woah, you so liked me back"
"No, I didn't. Sorry"
"Don't be sorry, I didn't like you that way either"
"You sure?"
"Yup"
"Okay, cool"
"Michael's vocal chords are damaged beyond repair", Mark said as they were operating on Michael in the OR. "So, he won't be able to speak?" Kelly asked. "No", George replied. "I believe that question was for me", Mark said.
"Sorry"
"You think just because you get to retake your intern test that you're the big man on campus?"
Michael's pressure dropped.
"We're losing him", Mark said.
Aurora walked out of the hospital to see Cristina and Meredith arguing. She was about to say something when she slipped on ice and fell to the ground. Cristina and Meredith turned around and walked over to her. "Are you okay?" Meredith asked. "Yeah", Aurora replied, laughing a little. "Can you help me up?" An icicle broke off from the roof above her. It impaled Aurora in the abdomen. Meredith and Cristina's eyes went wide. "We'll go get help!" Meredith exclaimed before she and Cristina rushed inside. Aurora groaned in pain.
