Areum lets out a loud sigh while she laid down on her bed with her whole body facing the ceiling.
It was late at night after eating, taking the kids to sleep, tiring themselves with gossip, Sowon helping her with her back burn bandages, and welcoming her parents home.
Needless to say, they were all now close friends.
She was about to drift off to sleep when her phone started ringing, waking her soul up in an instant. She stretched her arm as much as she can before the burns hurt, successfully getting her ringing phone.
"Hello?" She slightly grumbles but also spoke decently. She didn't even realize she greeted in Japanese.
"You speak Japanese now?" A deep and sultry voice rang through Areum's ears, making her sit up in a hurry and immediately winced in pain.
"You okay?" He quickly got worried.
"Uh... yeah. I just stood up in a hurry because I didn't think you would call me this late, Jeon Wonwoo-nim." Areum kind of nagged at the end, making Wonwoo laugh.
"I would've said the same thing if I were you." They immediately laughed in unison.
"So... why did you call?" Areum asked as she stands up on her bed.
She usually does that when she's talking to someone. She ponders or get lost in thought.
"I just want to know how you're holding up." Wonwoo answered her question. "We're you sleeping already?"
"No... just thinking, I guess." Areum admitted, making herself snicker. "By the way, this is the first time you called me." Areum expressed her thoughts.
"Its usually Mingyu, right?" Wonwoo then replied back with a chuckle following it. "He's asleep already so..."
"Don't wake him up!" Areum suddenly yelled but still in a whisper. "I want to talk to you only." She said as she stomps on her blanket, hearing Wonwoo giggle.
"Are you confessing that you like me more than Mingyu right now?" Wonwoo then asked, sounding as sly as ever.
Areum didn't know what to answer to that question.
Mingyu was one of the first friends she had starting off in the company but she didn't immediately click with him as much as she did with Wonwoo.
She knew that but the two became her closest friends, closer than both Bona and Jinseok.
"Yah Jeon Areum, are you actually thinking if an answer? That makes me think it's true, you know." Wonwoo blurted out, making them both laugh.
"If Mingyu hears this, he'll get really sulky." Areum continued, both chuckling in unison.
"Yeah..." Wonwoo ended up agreeing. "By the way, what are you doing right now?" He asked.
"Guess~" Areum said cutely while doing small hops on the bed.
Wonwoo chuckled and hums in thought.
"You're standing on your bed, aren't you?" Areum was in shock that she immediately sat down and grabbed her pillow.
"You're not here, right?" Areum asked with a feeling of an irrational fear present.
"Are you crazy? I don't even know where you are!" They both laughed once again but were careful not to be too loud.
"... but how did you know? That's... kinda creepy." Areum expressed, making Wonwoo snicker.
"I just know."
"But how?"
"I know you more than you think... that made me sound creepier." They burst out laughing once again.
Areum was smiling, laughing, and enjoying talking to Wonwoo a bit too much that she forgot she had still fresh burns.
She muttered the pain she felt and Wonwoo hastily took notice.
"... how are you feeling right now?" Wonwoo asked timidly after almost blurting out that she has burns.
Wonwoo wanted Areum to talk about it but there must be a reason why she wouldn't. He can't help but think he's the reason.
If there's one thing that could stray him from thinking that way, it's Areum who he always liked as a person from the very beginning. She wouldn't think like that about him.
"I miss you guys." Areum confessed, making Wonwoo slightly smile. "I mean, it's not boring here but still..."
"We miss you too. The guys keep bothering me and Mingyu about you." Wonwoo chuckled.
"Eh? Why?"
"They found out about your injury. I mean, you never said to keep it a secret so Bona told them." Wonwoo explained.
"... yeah but, injuries tend to get people nervous. Besides, I'll be back soon. I just don't have an exact date yet." Areum responded to his story.
"Why don't you rest until the concert? You're a great dancer so I'm sure you'll catch up pretty quickly. " Wonwoo suggested, making Areum giggle.
"Thank you for the compliment." Areum replied, Wonwoo smiling afterwards. "But... I still want to catch up with you guys before the concert. The concert is overseas and there's a flight and all and then all of us will be busy..."
"... hotel room?" Wonwoo then followed.
"Do you want me to lose my job?" They both laugh again.
For the past years that they were friends, their way of bonding is not for the lighthearted.
An example of this was when Areum was invited to Wonwoo's room at the dorm to play some games and just... hang out. Naturally, Mingyu comes in and sits beside Areum. They were playing peacefully until Mingyu comes in and hugged them both at the same time, squeezing Areum at the center and Wonwoo already sideways. Mingyu was watching Areum's point of view closely and when they were finally done, he pushed both of them down on the bed and went on top of them to smother them with affection.
Of course, Areum just laughed it off despite experiencing shivers down her spine when Wonwoo whispered something in her ear. Mingyu didn't notice that, as expected.
What did he whisper? Something kind yet somewhat suggestive about beds.
If anybody else other than the members see them, there are consequences. And yes, the members do not mind... sometimes they do mind but not in a bad way.
"Do I sound creepy when I suggested that?" Wonwoo suddenly asked, making Areum chuckle.
"For other people, yes. For me, I got used to it."
"That's expected." Another fit of laughter was shared between them.
A moment of silence engulfed their call when Wonwoo finally broke it.
"Let's sleep."
"Okay~" Areum said as she lays down and covers herself with her blanket, hugging a stuffed bear Wonwoo gave her.
"Dream of us."
"... what? Us or you guys?" Areum asked in confusion. Wonwoo just giggled at the other end.
"However you interpret it." Wonwoo them replied.
"Okay, I'll dream of us." Areum didn't know exactly what it meant so she just replied without thought.
"... alright. See you soon." Wonwoo replied.
"I want to hug you..." Areum said, already half-asleep.
"... you're already half asleep, aren't you?" Areum suddenly snapped out of her sleepiness.
"... really weird on how you can just guess what I'm doing but... yeah I want to hug you." Areum responded.
Areum always says that to Wonwoo and he would either reply a straight up no or...
"Hug me when we meet. I'll allow you this time because you got injured."
... that.
