Jason's P.O.V.
Loads of Demi-gods had assembled at the bottom of the ladder and they parted when Annabeth walked in front of them.
I could see people that I'd grown up with bandaged and buildings that I use to mess around in with Alex destroyed.
I spotted a Cyclops with a Hellhound in the back waving to Annabeth.
The Cyclops was wearing a SPQR banner like a giant bib.
Creepy......
I could smell the bakery and hear the fountain gurgling.
Demi-gods moved out of the way to reveal Reyna, she and Annabeth help the same stature as they looked at one another.
Around me Romans started to whisper my name and started at Leo, Piper and Annabeth like they were aliens from another planet.
Annabeth stared off into the distance and I knew that she'd spotted Percy.
'Jason Grace my former colleague...' she spat the word colleague, yay! Nice to see you to Reyna, I thought
'I welcome you home. And these, your friends-'
Annabeth suddenly bolted forward, everyone tensed and some Demi-gods even reached for swords that weren't there.
Percy threw his arms around her and they kissed.
'Gods, I never thought -' Percy started but he was cut off by Annabeth grabbing his wrist and flipping him over her shoulder.
As he slammed into the paving stones, Romans cried out and some surged forward, but Reyna yelled, 'Hold! Stand down!'
Annabeth's knee came to Percy's chest and she pushed her forearm against his throat.
If I didn't know Annabeth any better I would have thought she was trying to kill him.
'I you ever leave me again, I swear to all the gods-' Annabeth started but Percy cut her off with a laugh.
'Consider me warned,' Percy said, 'I missed you, too.'
She seemed to calm down a little after that, she helped Percy to his feet.
I cleared my throat.
'So, yeah....It's good to be back.'
I introduced Reyna to Piper and Leo.
Pipes looked a little bit annoyed that she hadn't gotten to say the lines she'd been praticing, but Leo just flashed Reyna a peace sign.
'And this is Annabeth,' I said, 'Uh, normally she doesn't judo-flip people.'
Reyna had that look in her eye, the calculating one.
'You sure you're not Roman Annabeth? Or Amazonian?'
Annabeth held out her hand, 'I only attack my boyfriend like that, pleased to meet you.'
Reyna grabbed hold of Annabeth's hand, 'It seems we have a lot to discuss. Centurions!'
The Roman centurions came forward.
Hazel and Frank appeared at Percy's side and I saw Annabeth's smile faulter.
Frank was a burly Asian guy with a buzz cut and he was only around 15.
He still looked like an oversized cuddly panda.
Hazel on the other hand is around 13, has Amber eyes and long curly hair.
She had her cavalry helmet tucked under her arm.
I noticed that Hazel kept glancing in Leo and Pipers direction, like she recognised then or something.
Reyna however was giving orders.
'...tell the legion to stand down. Dakota, alert the spirits in the kitchen. Tell them to prepare a welcoming feast. And Octavian -'
Oh Gods!
Here we go!
'You're letting these intruders into the camp?' He squeaked while elbowing his way forward
'Reyna, the security risks -'
'We're not taking them into camp, Octavian.' Reyna said while flashing him a stern look, 'We'll eat here in the forum.'
'Oh, much better,' He grumbled, 'You want us to relax in the shadow of their warship.'
'These are our guests.' Reyna stated clipping every word, 'We will welcome them, and we will talk to them. As augur, you should be burning an offering to the gods to thank them for bringing Jason back to us safely. Now Jason where are you hiding Alex?'
'Um...' I started.
Alex was like a little sister to Reyna and I really didn't want to have to be the one to tell her that she was missing!
'Good idea' Percy put in, saving me from Reyna's question, 'Go burn your bears Octavian.'
Reyna looked like she was trying not to smile.
'You have your orders. Go.'
The officers disappeared.
Octavian shot Percy a look of absolute loathing and gave Annabeth a suspicious once-over before stalking away.
Percy slipped his hand into Annabeth's, 'Don't worry about Octavian,' he said, 'Most of the Romans are good people -like Frank and Hazel here, and Reyna. We'll be fine.'
Annabeth looked up to the Argo II she looked unsure about what was going on here.
'Where is she Jason? you can't hide her forever.' Reyna said, glancing at me.
'She's with Nico.' I replied not telling the full truth but not lying either, 'On a quest.'
Reyna glanced at me to see if I was telling the truth.
'You'd better not be lying to me Grace, there'll be grave consequences if you are.'
Oh Styx, I'm in so much trouble when she finds out!
