Chapter 1: Follow The River

"I love you too."

Everyone was quiet, no one knew how to react after that last statement. Jay was in front of everyone, his back towards them, and Nya, still in water form, stood in front of him. It was dark out since the sun had set a few hours ago. The aura around them was a mix between surprise and... Joy? Surprise, because Nya's sudden appearance came out of nowhere. And Joy? Most likely because they were happy to see their beloved Water Ninja again.

After a very long awkward silence, Jay visibly beamed, "Nya!" He exclaimed while pouncing on her for a hug. He was lucky that Nya solidified her form, or he would've just went right through her and fall on the railing, "Oh! You're back! You're back! You're back!"

Nya set Jay back on the ground whilst still hugging. She returned the hug and closed her eyes in content, "Of course, Jay. I would never leave you forever," She gave him a warm smile, "Forever is a very long time."

By now, the other Ninja had already started to gather around the two reunited couple. They were cheering and greeting Nya, happy to have her back. The only one who didn't move was Harumi. She just stood still behind the bench, not daring to make a move.

She bit her lip and shifted her legs uncomfortably. She avoided all eye contact with all of them, especially Nya. She wasn't planning on making things awkward between them by starting a fight or an argument or any of the sort.

Nya finished her reunion with her Yin and started to greet her other friends. After Jay let her go to the others, she went to her brother first. Kai looked like an emotional mess. His eyes were glossy but there weren't any tear streaks on his face. He forced his tears back, not wanting to show any signs of weaknesses, but Nya knew her brother better than that.

She gave him a delighted look with a small content smile, "Kai, my brother. I have missed you as much as I have missed Jay." She reached her hand out, "Do you miss me too, brother?" She asked.

Kai's blurry vision cleared up in an instant as soon as Nya spoke. The tears were gone and he gave out a laugh in triumph. He wrapped his arms around Nya's waist and lifted her up in the air, "Nya!" He hugged her as she wrapped her arms around her brother in return.

"My sister..." He set her down and started firing questions at her, "Where have you been? Why didn't you say goodbye to us before leaving? You know how much everyone's missed you-?"

Nya clamped his mouth shut with her hand and let out a giggle, "I will answer all your questions in time, Kai. But for now, I would like to talk with my friends again, if I may?" She questioned.

"O-Oh! Yeah! Of course! Go ahead, I'm not stopping you." He chuckled.

She gave a pleased hum and walked towards the others. Kai looked down at the floor in disappointment. He then felt a hand on his shoulder. He looked up and saw Skylor comforting him. Kai let out a sigh, "I can't take Nya all for myself. I need to share her with the others."

Skylor let out an amused chuckle, "Oh, I know. But I wasn't coming to talk about that."

"Then what did you want to talk about, Sky?"

Skylor let go of him and sat down on the bench. She patted on the spot beside her and Kai sat there. "Nya and Harumi. How bad is their relationship?"

Kai opened his mouth to ask her what kind of question that is but kept it closed before the words could slip out. He pushed that thought away from his head and focused on Skylor's question. Nya and Harumi. Their relationship isn't the best. He sighed.

"Nya has a terrible relationship with Harumi. After Harumi was revealed to be the Quiet One, their friendship went downhill really fast. They were good friends before that though. Nya said, and I quote, 'Remember when I didn't care for her at first, then she won me over with all that girl talk and we started to really get to know each other? Well, now I hate her!'. And those were her words in their first encounter with Harumi as the Quiet One."
