Chapter 12 Rewrite Preview—
"I can see that, you know." Skylor decided to push a bit, trying to distract herself from her dreadful thoughts. But Quin acted fool.
"See what?"
"You're blushing."
"That's my makeup."
"It's not. It became a shade deeper after I told you about Lloyd."
"Whatever, Sky. But I don't like Lloyd. Not in that way."
Damn, Skylor thought to herself, She's good. "Deny it all you want, Quin. I know that look. I know it all too well."
Sighing loudly, rolling her eyes playfully in slight annoyance, Quin was about to give a retort when Lloyd came knocking on the doorframe before he peeked his head through the doorway. Giving both ladies a small smile with red and tired eyes, Skylor gave a nod in return while Quin smiled back. But her smile diminished when she saw his eyes.
Lloyd, seeing that Quin noticed his eyes, quickly cleared his throat, "Sorry to interrupt you two, but we're gonna take a little detour to Ninjago City before Shintaro, so let's get a move on." And with that, he ran away from the room.
"He was crying." Skylor raised her brows in concern.
"Yeah, I saw." Quin frowned, worry flooding her thoughts, "Do you think he's okay?"
The redhead glanced at her newest friend, "Truthfully? Lloyd's probably never truly okay."
All Quin wanted to do at hearing that was — truthfully — cry.
