📍 Siberia, Russia | March 1985

"She's finally alive," a Russian scientist announced as he opened the incubator.

After years of perfecting a species like her from an egg and a special serum, the scientist finally did it.

The first breath of the child outside her small space made her cry.

Everyone in the lab froze as they stare at the crying infant in the arms of the man.

The baby's skin is white as snow, and the few hairs that were on top of her head are also white.

"Doctor," one of his assistants called out.

The Russian was entranced by the infants' eyes once they opened. They were borderline blue and grey.

"Why is it small?" A deep voice asked the scientist who was his boss.

Weighing her and taking her size, she was a lot smaller than regular infants.

"She weighs 0.54 lb, about the same weight of a large apple," one of the assistants informed.

"Another failure, Petrov?" His boss glared at him.

Alexei Petrov, the doctor, defended his creation, "That's not yet sure, Sir. We must remember that she is the first of her kind. We do not know how she would develop."

"I do not have time to waste!" The big man said in fury that made everyone in the lab fear him.

"Give me 6 months, Sir. That's all I ask to chart her growth, then after that, it's your decision," Petrov negotiated.

One of the boss' men stepped inside the lab, "Извините меня, сэр. Пришло время испытать заключенного № 56898. (Russian: Excuse me, sir. It's time for Prisoner #56898 to be put to a test.)"

The boss turned to the scientist again, giving him a curt nod, "6 months, Petrov. I'm giving you 6 months. If I do not like the results, it will be killed."

Alexei took offense with the use of pronouns to his creation, but he remained silent for the sake of living. "Спасибо, (Russian: Thank you)" he replied as the man left.

"Everyone dismiss," Dr. Petrov said, wanting to be alone to think of how he will prove his success in making her.

"Hi," the old man spoke softly, reaching his finger for the child's hand to latch on.

"Aren't you so little with pretty blue eyes like a jewel," he said. "You have to work with me, little one. Show them that they are wrong," he continued talking to the gurgling baby.

Alexei pulled away from his hand and opened a folder with a blank sheet of file.
