Let's not talk about the big things,
Let the grand gestures fade to black,
Let's dwell on the way your stare
Could send goosebumps down my back.
Let's talk about the way your hand
Found mine even in a crowd.
Let's talk about the silly little things
I never said to you out loud.
Like the way I loved it
When you walked beside me down the street.
The way I'd talk non-stop
And listen to the scuffling of your feet.
Let's talk about the way you'd read
My poetry with a smile.
The way you'd tuck my hair behind my ear.
The way our texts were longer than the Nile.
Let's talk about the winter days we spent apart,
And the guitar strings filling the background.
How my name coming through your lips,
Was no ordinary sound.
Let's talk about the times we spent,
Pretending that no one was looking.
Let's talk about that crazy little world,
That only you and I were in.
Let's talk about the sunsets we saw together,
The stupid angry fights,
The inside jokes and shenanigans,
The lonely February nights.
Let's talk about every moment
Before our little slice of forever
Came to an end.
Let's talk about every text you typed
But didn't send.
Let's talk about all the things
I burned in a fire,
All in an attempt to forget
The little things you gave me to remember.
