Ghost Girl

She's not alive.
And she's not dead.
There's a ghost lying
In your bed.
There's a ghost living
In your heart.
You couldn't stop it,
When she fell apart.
A hollow shell
Of a person once happy.
Sweet cheery voice,
Now hoarse and raspy.
She has sung songs, you see,
With lyrics you can never change.
Words from a polluted mind
So disturbing and ever strange.
Oh yes, she'll smile at you,
And laugh and joke and talk,
You will never truly see her,
By the casual way she walks.
Look into her eyes
And tell me they're not empty,
Windows of a soul
That was once bright and lively.
There was nothing
You could do,
You loved her well,
You loved her true.
But with a single reckless action
She knocked down all that she was
Lost all her will and happiness,
Only just because.
