Eden's POV
Training with Bobbi left me with a few bruises, meaning I had to find a way to cover them so that no one back at the base would find out - especially Daisy. So after buying myself a new pair of long cargo pants and a black hoodie to go with it we made our way back to the base.
"Thank you." I turned to Bobbi who gave me a small nod.
"No problem, how about we meet up again Thursday?"
"Yeah, that's good for me."
Once we touched down and my bracelet got turned on again all the crappy feelings returned with it. I was just being held prisoner here and everybody just went along with it. Why couldn't they just see that all I need is my powers? Once I have my powers I wouldn't be searching anymore, I would be whole - complete. All these feelings of anger and sadness would disappear.
"Hey, what are you guys working on?"
I made my way into the lab and leaned against the counter.
"Coulson asked us to examine this..."
"Rock." Fitz finished Jemma's sentence as they both stared at the grey rock in front of them.
"Fun." I stretched out the word making it obvious I was being sarcastic.
"Well, what are you doing?" Fitz bounced the question back to me. I let out a snort before trying to figure out what I was going to answer. The truth was something I couldn't tell them, the only reason I wondered in here was so that I could see if there was still a piece of that crystal left - and there was.
"Nothing much. Just got back from tra..." What was I saying, I couldn't tell them about the training. "I just got back from training. although depends what you call training, it was more talking." I threw in another chuckle and hoped they wouldn't ask more questions.
Jemma placed a hand on my shoulder, "It's good that they gave you someone to talk to." She smiled. Why didn't I pick Jemma? She's so kind and just wants what's best for you but I also knew the reason why I couldn't have Jemma as my S.O. It wouldn't work with Daisy and Jemma being close and talking to each other. I mean I would never really be able to trust Jemma completely with all the stuff I would tell her about Daisy. Those two were definitely closer than I could ever be with her.
"Yeah, Bobbi is really cool." And with that I turned around and located the crystal on the opposite side of the room, stored away on a shelf. If I wanted to get it without being seen the best strategy would be to come in here at night, but then again - what if I gave it away by simply coming in here and showing interest in their science? I have never been good at science let alone interested. Maybe waiting for nightfall would already be too late, maybe this was going to be my only chance. I took a few steps toward the exit as if to leave the room before glancing back at both the scientist, as usual they had completely forgotten about me and had continued in their search for answers. This was it! My heartbeat sped up as the thoughts of me grabbing the crystal started becoming reality. I noticed my irregular breathing and without any warning I made my way over to the shelf, reached for the petri-dish and grabbed the crystal. Without looking back I leaped out of the room and sprinted down the corridor.
Daisy's POV
My power partner was my sister?! Eden of all people! It took me a few seconds to collect my thoughts on the whole situation. This was the thing Coulson meant, this was the thing I was ready to read. Was I really ready to read this? But Coulson saying that, meant that he knew about this, he knew that my powers were special but it also meant that he knew that if Eden would get her powers we could be unstoppable. Eden... Crap! This gives a whole other perspective, we need to secure all the crystals!
I jumped off my bed and left the journal for what it was. Sprinting down the corridor I caught a lot of glances but it didn't matter, I had to talk to Coulson.
"You knew! You knew that Eden her powers would...I don't know match with mine or something. Why didn't you tell me? We need to secure all the crystals, we need to make sure she doesn't get her powers." I barged into his office. Two pairs of eyes stared back at me, Coulson standing in the middle of the room and Talbot who was on the screen.
"Coulson, what is this?" Talbot boomed over the speakers.
"We will continue our meeting later." Coulson smiled at Talbot and turned the screen off. "Daisy, what did I say about barging in?"
"Sir with all due respect, I don't understand why you didn't take this more seriously. I know my sister, she's sneaky."
"Very well, but aren't the crystal locked away?"
"Yes but I think we should check more often if they are all still there. Or maybe even place someone on watch or put in a motion sensor."
"Alright calm down, go check the crystals and I'll see what I can do to provide more security."
"Thank you, Sir."
On my way out I ran into Jemma and Fitz who on their turn tried to catch their breath.
"It's..." There was a pause as Fitz gulped for air, "It's Eden." He finally said.
"She took it. We didn't realize at first but she took the crystal." Jemma said still bending over with her hands on her knees.
I was too late! I pushed past Fitz and ran down the corridor. I burst through our door only to find the leftovers of the mist and a human husk standing in the middle of the room.
"Damn it, Eden!"
