T E N (new)
I struggle to look for something decent to wear, I sit at the foot of my bed staring at a spread of clothes with a frustrated frown. The knock on my door shifts my attention, Nathan stands there dressed in light-wash jeans; that do his thighs so good, a solid black shirt and his hair carelessly tousled.
Goddamn it.
"You ready to go? I sigh "give me 5 minutes, I can't find anything" I mumble, glaring at my clothes. He chuckles "alright, I'll call us a cab" He smiles and walks away. I pick up the dark red lace bodysuit and denim skirt I was eyeing and slip them on, may as well dress up and look presentable.
I slide on a pair of black boots and laden my hair with dry shampoo, slap on makeup, dump the bare minimum into a little bag and head out the door.
Nathan stands on the curb waiting for me, "hey" I stand beside him, looking around. "where's the cab?" He looks up from his phone "on its... way." His eyes rake my body, head to toe, subtility out the window, I grow awfully conscious of how much I have on display. "There it is" He clears his throat, swinging the door open before the driver can come to a full stop and getting in, only adding to my consciousness, regardless, I chuckle to myself a little confused as I get in.
The moment our feet hit the pavement and the cab drives off, we're hit with pulsing music. Nathan seems eager to get inside, he walks ahead without another glance my way, I frown, following him.
"Nathan!" A tall, beautiful girl with an even better body rushes up to Nathan and throws her arms around him. This is my queue to leave, I duck into the swarm of bodies in search of a drink, or a familiar face. The music gets louder, people cheer and blue lights flash. I spot Pierce in the kitchen with a red solo cup in hand, talking to someone I recognize from our Lit class.
The beat of the music vibrates through me as I approach them, "Hey" I smile, Pierce grins "Anna, you came. This is Marie, she's from-"
"English Literature, nice to meet you" I beam. Marie grins "likewise". Pierce hands me a cup "it's punch with a 'twist', don't ask me what the twist is" He laughs, I look down at the red liquid and one whiff sends the spirits straight to my head.
That's strong.
"Marcus calls it the devil's punch, it has some strong shit in there" Marie pipes in, I nod and take a sip. The liquid burns all the way down "I think that just sterilised my mouth"I wince, the drink leaves a tingling on my lips and tongue. But I enjoy it, so I take another sip.
"Do you guys wanna dance? this DJ plays really good music" Marie offers, setting her cup down after chugging its contents. Pierce and I exchange a look, nodding in unison. We gulp down the punch and my eyes water but I ignore the burn and follow them out to the dance floor.
(Play - Talking Body: Tove Lo)
We sing along to the song, our bodies swaying. The beat drops and we scream the chorus, I get so into the song and go wild as alcohol makes its way into my system. "you look amazing!" Pierce yells over the music, I grin under the flashing red and blue lights, jumping and singing.
The whole room is filled with dancing teenagers pressed up against each other, my eyes scan the room and I catch Nathan in a corner, lips locked with the girl from earlier. I ignore them, moving my focus to Pierce whose gotten significantly closer. I impulsively wrap my arms around his shoulders, singing with him.
His hands slide down my body, to my waist and fall on my hips. We get so close I feel his body heat radiating off him, either that or that punch has worked its magic. "I'm going to get us some more drinks!" I inform him, leaving his touch. I hum my way to a table littered with booze, I get us some more punch, dumping in a little more vodka into each cup.
