I stand in the bathroom facing the mirror, my face flushed and my embarrassment at its peak. My family just walked in on me 10 seconds away from having Nate stick it in me, how does one face their family after something this awkward?.
"Anastasia?" My mum knocks softly on the door, making my face turn even hotter "I-i'm coming..." I mumble, splashing my face with cold water and grabbing a clean top off the towel rack. Is this even mine?
Eh fuck it, I take my shirt off and slip the white tee over my head, checking my appearance one last time before heading out into the living room.
When i walk in my eyes immediately land on nathan who's talking to my dad and i just know he's being grilled.
Mum grabs my elbow firmly and pulls me away from earshot of their conversations, forcing me to look at her. She has a stern look on her face "you said nothing was going on between you and Nathaniel so i let it slide and didn't tell you father about you living with a boy. Care to explain what we walked in on?" She crosses her arms over her chest, raising a brow.
She knows what she walked in on, she also knows i can't lie to her face. My mouth hangs open, words not being able to form. "Nate and i-" her eyes narrow, making me gulp.
Why is she suddenly so moody about this? She was fine when she found out, this has to be some kind of bad dream. Some twisted, alternate universe dream.
"Nathaniel and you what?" Impatience is clear in her tone, her flat ballet shoe tapping against the hard wood. "We're just.. fooling around" I breath out, looking away.
"My daughter? And fooling around? Impossible- wait..." My heart drops, frantic eyes meeting her sceptical ones. "Is this your thing now? Fooling around with boys? Do you know what i saw on page six of the tabloid today?"
I frown at her, confused. "You. Pictured with 3 different boys in one night." My eyes widen.
Press coverage at the bakers! Damn it Anastasia!
"That's right, Nathaniel, Michael? James bakers son and some other boy. What has gotten into you anastaisa?" She doesn't even bother whispering, her anger seething through her skin.
I flush "i-its not what you think i- michael and i are friends, nathan is his best friend i-"
"-oh i know that." She spits, dropping her arms. I freeze "you do?"
She composes herself "It stated there in the article." I nod slowly, my eyes narrowing.
"What's with the sudden change of heart? I thought you liked Nathan?" She sighs "I'm just not sure he's right for you.." She mumbles, walking past me.
I roll my eyes, walking up to Samuel "why are you so quiet? You usually have a lot to say" I tease, sam chuckles "i'm kind of traumatized, i walked in on my little sister being.. fondled" I grimace at his choice of words "please, never use that word again"
He nods "Duly noted. Now, when were you planning on telling me you're living with a boy"
"I thought your girlfriend would've told you?" He frowns "she didn't... how would she know?"
I roll my eyes "ask her, i'm surprised she didn't take this as a chance to degrade me again" I grit out, remembering all the times she's said horrible things to me about Jason but my brother turned a blind eye to it.
"Anna." My father says sternly from beside me, side-eyeing me with one of his classic 'watch your mouth' look. I offer him a tight lipped smile "You know i'm right, don't side with him just because he's your favourite, first born.." Dad's eyes soften "Honey you know that's not true... i know what she said to you was awful but she's not just his girlfriend anymore.." He reasons softly.
