Aleks let himself be led into the back room, furthest from the living room. Silent, bitter tears rolled down his cheeks, and he wished he could just melt into nonexistence. Kevin squeezed his hand comfortingly, lacing their fingers together before pushing open the door and gently pulling Aleks inside.
Jordan and Seamus both looked up with grim expressions, but once they saw Kevin and Aleks, they managed soft, exhausted smiles. But those soon faded as they realised that James nor Dan joined them, and they realised that both males were crying slightly."Wh-Where's James? Dan?"
Jordan stammered, but he feared he already knew the answer.
"Too late,we were too late,"
Aleks whispered, his voice cracking dangerously under tears. Kevin kissed his temple, and gave Jordan a sad look, before leading Aleks into the small bathroom that broke off from the large room. He sat the wiry Russian down on the edge of the tub,and carded his fingers through his dark brown hair. Aleks let out a muffled sob before wrapping his arms tightly around Kevin, burying his face in the male's stomach.
"Sh,sh,"
Kevin cooed, rubbing Aleks' back gently, before prying the male's arms off of him. He knelt down in front of Aleks and kissed him gently, holding the Russian's hands in his. Tears and quiet, shuddering sobs mingled in the kiss before Kevin pulled away, and kissed Aleks' hands.
"I've got to help Seamus and Jordan, okay?"
"O-Okay,"
Aleks sniffs, rubbing his eyes with his sleeve. Kevin sighed, and kissed his forehead,
"Stay here."
Aleks nodded and Kevin exited the small bathroom. Jordan looked unsteady, and Seamus was silently staring down at the floor. They looked up when Kevin approached, and Jordan heaved a sigh, his breath hitching on tears. Seamus nodded, and turned back to where he had been working. He was trying to push a large desk onto its side so it would fit flat in a corner, but was having trouble. Kevin hurriedly walked over to help, leaving Jordan To wrestle with a tall cabinet. Eventually,Kevin and Seamus got the desk out of the way,and they both ran over to Jordan just in time to keep the cabinet from toppling over onto him. With a huff and a shove, they got the cabinet pushed in front of a window,so it was somewhat out of the way.
"What next?"
Kevin asked, rolling his sweatshirt sleeves up. Seamus pointed at a dresser,
"That can go in the corner by the desk. It'll free up some space."
"Good idea,"
Jordan agreed, and the three managed to push and pull the dresser so that it fit perfectly with the desk, making the room a whole lot bigger than its original size. Krism came into the room at that point, carrying a few sleeping bags that looked musty and old. They were coated in dust, and exploded with dust flurries when she set them down. Wheezing slightly, the female waved away the dust before looking at the three Creatures,
"I need help getting some blankets and stuff to lay down so we can heal in here."
Jordan nodded, and followed Krism out of the room. Seamus nodded and Kevin, and they rolled out the sleeping bags on the cool oak floor that was in surprisingly decent condition.
Jordan and Krism returned minutes later, carrying bundles of blankets and a few pillows. A tall,black-haired male carrying a slightly smaller, blonde male walked in after them. The male in his arms was bandaged tightly, and was hopefully unconscious, hopefully. Krism and Jordan hurriedly started to cover the rest of the floor with two blankets on each space, setting up pillows against the wall.
"Okay Mark,"
Krism said gently, turning to the dark-haired man,who blinked gratefully as she said,
"You can set Aaron down over here."
He nodded, and walked over slowly, setting the blonde down on a section of blankets, before standing up fully to smile slightly at Krism. He nodded at the other three wordlessly before leaving the room. Krism sighed, and followed with a brief,
"You guys are good. You can rest. Mark and hopefully Wade will be taking the fallen into another room if you want to help."
Kevin swallowed, and glanced at Jordan, who looked like he was about to break down. Seamus was quiet, before he asked,
"Are we going to go help?"
"I will,"
Kevin volunteered, but Jordan was hesitant. Finally,he nodded, and the three of them walked silently out into the hall. They reached the living room to see Mark hesitantly looking down at James, before nodding at a male who was taller and had short, brown hair and stubble. They carefully lifted James' arms, and Kevin hurried over to help. Jordan and Seamus hesitated, before Jordan broke down completely. The Irish led the taller into the kitchen to try and comfort him, leaving Kevin to help by himself.
Sighing,Kevin looked up at Mark and supposedly Wade, when a soft touch at his elbow made him look over. Aleks had joined the party to help, making Mark smile weakly.
With a heave, they maneuvered into the room Krism had mentioned, where the carpet was surprisingly clean. They laid James down gently, before slowly walking back to the living room to do the same with Dan.
Kevin couldn't help but notice how their fellow, fallen Creatures looked so frightened and worried, even if the imprint of death was clear. It concerned him,and Aleks seemed to notice it too. Mark and Wade left to give them privacy, allowing Aleks to break and cry into Kevin's chest. Kevin kissed the top of his head, and managed to hear a muffled,
"They look so scared..so worried..."
"Shh,"
Kevin soothed, rubbing the Russian's back gently. The dead just can't sleep peacefully,Kevin thought dryly, tears rolling down his cheeks once more as he tried to comfort Aleks. But with the presence of dead friends,it was hard not to cry and let despair swallow him.
