Chapter Eighteen

I felt someone shook my shoulders to gain my attention and I was startled as I looked at the source.

"Kiara, are you okay?" Xylus' voice called out in concern, I smiled as I shook my head in reassurance.

"Let's finish this once and for all." I said with determination and Xylus nodded his head in agreement.

"Annalise, can you start taking the elders, and children to the bunker?" I advised and she nodded before quickly walking away.

I looked at Xylus, and we both nodded at each other and walked outside of the mansion, Xylus mind-linked the pack members and everyone gathered around us with panic in their eyes.

"A vampire leader called for war upon us, we must protect the pack and our members, we must fight for our families and our mates." he looked at me as he said the word 'mates', I felt my heart beat quicken as I gave him a small smile. I felt our mate bond get even stronger each time he accepted me.

"The vampire leader is coming for us because of this blood sucker, right Alpha?" A male voice spoke up and my eyes trailed towards him. I felt my stomach twist as the realisation dawned on me. This is all my fault. I am risking everyone's life.

"I dare you to say that again about my mate." Xylus' voice went down an octave as his voice was mixed with his wolf's, I looked up at him in shock and his eyes flicked from silver to his blue, purple eyes. This was the first time he addressed me as his mate in front of the pack members. I looked back at the male and his face became pale, he whimpered as he showed his neck in submission. "I am sorry Luna. Alpha." his voice quivered as he addressed us. My eyes trailed to all the pack members and they all showed their neck in submission.

I felt a whole new feeling of power, and respect. "Thank you." my voice sounded more mature, as I felt acceptance from everyone from having me as their Luna. Everyone gasped as they stared at me, I creased my eyebrows in confusion and looked at Xylus, he looked at me with pride in his eyes. "Your eyes are golden again." he announced and my eyes widened.  "Eugene, you take 20 pack members to the east side of the forest and River you take 20 people to the west side of the forest and the rest must come with us." Eugene, River and the selected pack members nodded in agreement and walked away.

We warily walked to the forest, we kept our eyes and ears open for any sign of moment. We suddenly heard a twig snap and all our eyes snapped towards the sound and i looked in dread as Damian came into view.

"Oh Kiara, what a pleasent surprise." He spoke excitedly, in a mocking tone.

"Can't say the same." I rolled my eyes and he held his hand to his chest as if he was hurt by my words.

"What is the need for the cavalry? its just little ol' me." he pouted, the pack members growled in anticipation and I looked around the forest in suspicion.

"You know, there isn't a need for this, you could calmly come with me and no-one needs to get hurt." He stated as he shrugged, when he didn't see me making any attempts to come to him he smirked sinisterly, I had a bad feeling in the pit of my stomach.

One of Damian's minions walked out of the shadow and my heart sank when I saw who he brought with him. It was Eleanor, the little girl I helped and healed the wound on her leg. She had tears trailing down her doe eyes and I felt my instincts take over me to make sure she is protected. "Kiara, please help me." she cried out desperately. Damian held up a knife to her neck and I clenched my jaw as I watched his every move. "So what is it going to be, Kiara?"

"You forgot what power I have, Damian?" He narrowed his eyes in confusion, making me smirk. I used my telekinesis power to push Damian and his minion away from Eleanor and they both flew and fell to the ground. Eleanor sprinted towards me and jumped into my arms, I held onto her tightly as she sobbed into my shoulders. "It will be okay sweetie, I got you." I kissed her head as I faced Xylus, his eyes were blood shot red in anger from how Damian used a pup as leverage but there was a slight admiration lingering in his eyes from how I handled her.

I turned to look at a pack member, "Take her to safety." He nodded and took Eleanor from my arms, once she was out of my sight, my eyes snapped to Damian, as he got up slowly.

"Using a child to get to me? That's low, even for a despicable person like you." I spat and he had the same smirk on his face. "Now." I heard him shout and dozens of vampire's rushed out of the trees, we all got into a fighting stance and began our war. I ran towards a vampire, and before she could act, I jumped on her shoulders and ripped her head out.

I looked to see how Xylus was doing, he was still in his human form while taking on 2 vampires. He looked at me for a split second in reassurance and I nodded. I turned to see a pack member in wolf form, trying to take on 5 vampires, I used my telekinesis power and they all were pushed away, the pack member looked at me and nodded in gratitude and I gave a slight nod.

I looked at everyone fighting for their lives, and sighed in relief to see that we were winning, my heart beat quickened as I looked for Damian, I sensed someone behind me and I used my telekinesis power to push them away. "Wow, you have gotten more powerful than the last time I've seen you." Damian chuckled as I turned to look at him. Xylus used his wolf speed to make his way next to me to give me back up.

"You're better than your mother." I tensed from him speaking about my mother.

"Don't you dare speak of her." I gritted my teeth and he smirked, seeing that it bothered me.

"I killed 4 birds with one stone, so to say." He said out of nowhere and I furrowed my eyebrows.

"What are you talking about?" Xylus growled and Damian chuckled.

"Well I was actually in love with Kiara's mother, but she chose that filthy beta instead of me." He begun and I closed my eyes to calm myself down as I listened.

"But when I found out that your mother was pregnant with you, I knew you would be powerful by being half vampire and half werewolf."  He continued to speak and my eyes snapped towards him as i puzzled everything together in my mind.

"Both your parents and Xylus' parents got in my way when I was trying to get to you Kiara-" my eyes widened as my body was stiff. Everything makes sense. My father was the beta of Xylus' pack and Xylus' father was the Alpha, Damian killed my parents and his parents to get to me. A wave of guilt hit me as I glanced at Xylus, his silver hair matched his glowing silver eyes, it was Zilar. He growled lowly as he got into a fighting stance.

"From your golden eyes, i'm guessing you already got your wolf." he grinned expectantly, he was trying to provoke us, and from the look of Xylus and Zilar, it was working. Zilar ran up to Damian before I could stop him, "Zilar, No!" I screamed out. I noticed Damian hiding something behind his back and stabbed Xylus in the heart, I felt the mate bond weaken as I fell down, grabbing my heart in agony. "He killed our mate!" I heard someone say in my head.
