My wait for Salar went from days to months to years. The promise he made to me was hanging somewhere in the air waiting to be fulfilled by him. Asad and Zaroon came back a year after and became corporate slaves like everyone else but Salar? Well he stayed back as he got a good job offer there and we lost the communication between us over the time. Inaya and I graduated with merit scholarships and coincidentally got jobs in the same firm but in different departments.

The teasing between Inaya and Zaroon turned into love which they refused to confess to each other until me and Asad got in between and set them up on a blind date. It was that date where Zaroon broke down in tears and told Inaya that he has always been in love with her but due to Salar he always watched her from the shadows. Seeing Zaroon cry like that not only melted Inayas heart but melted Salars as well when Asad had sent him a picture of crying Zaroon who begged his mother all the way from the other side of the world to get them both engaged.

Inaya and Zaroon got engaged, even Asad got married but Salar didn’t come. Each time I hoped for seeing him but both the times I got crushed by his absence. But after years when I saw him entering Inayas room where she was showing me her wedding dress my hopes got crushed for the third time not because he didn’t acknowledged me but because this time he wasn’t alone. There was a beautiful lady standing right beside him, smiling brightly at us. At first we thought she was just a friend but her clutching his arm and introducing herself to us as Rosie Salar left everyone in the house in shocked.
After half an hour when everyone came back to their senses all the hell broke loose while I sat on the dressing tables chair watching it all unfold. Inaya and Alina were shouting something at their brother. I could hear Inaya’s mother Yasmeen aunty crying somewhere near the door while Sikandar Uncle consoled her with soothing words. Roshanay Apa was trying to settle down every one and Rosie? She was clutching on Salars arm while watching everyone with tear filled eyes.

Someone was now sitting near my feet. At looking down, I was greeted with the beautiful eyes of non-other than shiham he was saying something to me but I could only tilt my head a little in acknowledgement. He pressed his lips together and got up from where he was sitting and pulled my wrist, dragging me out of the chaotic room which now had begun to suffocate me.

We were now sitting on the footpath outside the Sikandar house. I was leaning against the shoulder of Shiham in silence, who was now 12 years old. It has been 7 years! 7 long years and this is how he has repaid me against my wait. I felt my vision get blurry and one by one the tears started falling down my cheeks showing the world that I have lost once again. I don’t know for how long we waited there but the voices inside the house didn’t stopped and it was now night time. There was no point for me to stay here anymore. May be I will visit it once more for the sake of my best friend but now? I need to go. I asked Shiham to bring my bag from inside which he hesitantly obliged. I hugged him one last time and went home to cry myself to sleep. That night I made a promise to myself that no matter what Salar Sikandar will justify to others I will never forgive his betrayal.

Hey Guys,
No I am not dead. It's just as usual, was busy with work but tbh there was a lot of things that were going on and therefore couldn't write. I hope this not so good chapter will somewhat compensate my absence.
Thank you for the support! Love ya all❤️
