TW: hurtful words, abuse and rape. This may be a little more detailed or worse than the rest. 🌊 when safeShe quietly opened the door and tiptoed inside. She was late. It was seven minutes past nine pm, and she'd had to be home at nine. "Where the hell have you been?" Emma's foster mother snapped. "At the library," Emma whispered. "Was the library more fun than me or George?" Her foster mother grabbed a thick book. "These stupid things are more fun than us?" she yelled while hitting Emma with the book. "Ow! Stop!" "You are such an ungrateful brat! I completely understand why your smart parents gave you, this weird, stupid, immature, ungrateful, annoying, loud and bitchy child up! They were right to do it! You are so worthless! You are nothing!" her foster mother yelled. Emma was bleeding from the sharp edges of the book. "Stop!" "George, come and shut this little witch up!" Emma's eyes grew wide in fear. "No! No I'm sorry! You can keep hitting me I'll shut up I promise!" Her foster mother called for her husband again. "Well well well little brat, have you been naughty again?" Naughty. She hated that word. "I'm sorry it won't happen again I promise," she said as tears were running down her cheek. "Naughty little girls need to be punished. Brianna, pass me the ropes," he said. Emma's foster mother gave George the ropes he had asked for. Her foster father grabbed Emma by her arm and dragged her with him to the basement; her bedroom. There was a small matress with a thin blanket on the ground. That's where George roughly threw Emma on. Emma tried to run away, but George harshly grabbed her arms and tied her hands and feet to the tubes around her bed. He ripped her jeans off, another piece of clothing ruined. "No! Please don't do this!" He grabbed her breasts and squeezed roughly. "Ow! Stop!" He took off his belt and let his jeans slide to the floor. "No!" He ripped both his and her underwear off. He was big and hard and he forced himself into her mouth. She gagged and nearly threw up. He pulled it out again, not wanting to get vomit on it. "You are disgusting!" he said angrily. "Now you have to pay for being disgusting! You're a mistake!" He had tied her feet to the pillars so that her legs were spread open. She squirmed and tried to get loose, which resulted in her older wounds getting open and bleeding again. The ropes were too strong, too tight. He laid on top of her. "No!" He pushed his tip into her and roughly pushed further. She screamed in pain. He went fully in, roughly, forcing her open and she screamed and sobbed. "Stop!" He thrusted into her and found a rythm that he thought was nice. He pounded into her. "No!"

"No! Stop!!" Emma screamed and sobbed as she woke up with a jolt. She didn't hear the knocks at the door, nor did she hear David say he would come in. As David opened the door, the light from the hallway came in through the gap in the doorway. Emma snapped her head towards the light and all she saw was a man. She couldn't make out that it was David, she thought it was George. "No!" she screamed as she backed up against the wall. "Honey, it's me," David said gently. "It's me, David." But Emma couldn't comprehend what he said and shook her head. "No," she continued to sob. Mary came upstairs too. "Honey, it's okay, we're here," she said softly. Emma didn't know what was wrong with her, but all she saw were Brianna and George. "No! Get away from me!" she screamed as they both tried to get closer to Emma. "Call Regina, she knows about the nightmares too and perhaps she knows what to do," Mary said, a little panicked, to David. David quickly grabbed his cell and dialed Regina's number. After a few rings, Regina picked it up. "Hello?" she asked sleepily. "Regina, sorry to call you this late but Emma had a nightmare and we don't know what to do, I think she thinks we are two people that hurt her what do we do we can't calm her down," David said, a little panicked. Regina was now fully awake, hearing about her girlfriend. "Um... Tell her that it's you guys, say your names and tell her it's okay and that you're there," she said. "Emma, Emma it's us, David and Mary, it's okay, we're here," David said to Emma. Emma was a sweating, sobbing mess, backed up against the wall with her eyes firmly closed. "No," she sobbed. "It's not helping," David said, now fully panicked. Mary was panicking too. "Alright, I'm coming over," Regina said and ended the call. She pulled on a coat and shoes as fast as she could and ran to her car with her car keys in hand. She jumped into the car and probably broke some laws while driving to the Nolan's. She ran into the building after locking her car and knocked on the Nolan's front door. David immediately opened the door and Regina ran inside, throwing her coat on the ground as she did so. She was in her long, silk pyjama's but she didn't care. When she got upstairs, she was greeted with sobs coming from Emma. She stopped in the doorway of her bedroom. "Emma?" she gently said. "Emma it's me, Regina. You're okay, it was just a dream." She slowly walked into the room and stopped beside her bed. "No! Get away from me!" Emma screamed and defensively put her hands over her head. "Em it's me, it's Regina," Regina said. Emma seemed to be in some sort of daydream, seeing someone else. She thought Regina was Brianna. "I'm sorry, it won't happen again," she sobbed. "Ducky, it's me," Regina softly said, being desperate enough to use the pet name. The name seemed to get Emma out of her daydream. She pulled her hands slightly away from her head and looked up at Regina. She blinked a few times before Brianna turned into Regina. "Gina?" she whispered. "That's right Em, it's me," Regina said, tears in her eyes from seeing Emma like this and from relief. "Gina," Emma croaked out. Regina very slowly pulled her arms out to hug the blonde, giving her the chance to pull away. Emma crawled towards her girlfriend and let herself be hugged as Regina sat down on the bed. Emma sobbed against the brunette's shoulder. Regina drew soft circles on Emma's back and held her tightly against her. "It's okay, it was just a dream. We're here, you're okay," she whispered. She kissed the crown of Emma's head and let it linger for a moment, forgetting that Mary and David were witnessing it all. Emma's sobbing ceased, but she was clinging onto Regina for dear life. "Emma?" Mary asked softly, stepping in the room. Emma turned her head towards Mary and looked at her with tears on her cheeks, her eyes puffy and red and her breathing uneven. "Are you okay honey?" Emma shook her head a little and rested it on Regina's shoulder. David came in the room too, slower however. "Hey," he said softly. Emma smiled one of the tiniest smiles they had ever seen. "Em," Regina said softly, "can I let you go?" Emma shook her head and held Regina even tighter against her. "Okay," Regina simply said, showing the blonde she wasn't leaving. 'They... will probably want an explanation,' Emma thought. 'I can't tell them about this, I can't!' "It was a nightmare," Emma whispered. Mary nodded. "We thought so," she said softly. "Can we know what it was about?" she asked. Emma's eyes widened slightly and she furiously shook her head while tears began to form in her eyes again. "Alright, that's okay. You don't have to tell us," David quickly said. Emma exhaled deeply and leaned her head against Regina's shoulder again. She was so exhausted, her eyes began to close. She tried to fight it, really, but she was in such a comfortable position. "You can sleep, Em," David said, recieving an accepting nod from Regina. "We'll stay here with you." At that, Emma didn't fight the sleep coming to take her. "Thank you Regina," Mary said softly. "You're welcome," Regina whispered, trying to be as quiet as possible for Emma. "But um... if you don't mind me asking... ducky? Where did that come from?" Mary asked. Regina blushed and David and Mary were shocked. They'd never ever seen Regina blush. "We um... we'll explain that to you... someday," came the response. "Alright," David said, noticing that Regina wanted to drop the subject. "Would you like some tea?" Regina smiled and softly shook her head. "No thanks, I-" "No," Emma whispered in her sleep, "don't. No..." "Sssh, Em, it's just a dream, it's not real, go back to sleep," Regina softly said. Emma stopped talking in her sleep and dreamt another dream. Mary sat down on the desk chair while David went to make some tea for Mary and him. "You really care about her, don't you?" Mary softly asked, having seen the tears in Regina's eyes and the kiss on top of Emma's head earlier. "Yes," Regina whispered. "She's an angel, but I think some horrible things have happened in her past." "I do too," Mary agreed, "I probably may not share this but I'm gonna do it anyway. When she first came here, she had bruises on her body and wounds on her ankles and wrists and she flinched everytime we stuck our hand out to take her hand or something." Regina softly nodded. "She had never decorated a christmas tree before. When I accidentally scared her, she dropped a glass bulb, was on the verge of tears and kept apologizing and saying that she would buy a new one, that it would never happen again. She also flinched. She's so amazing, I don't understand why someone would hurt her." "I dont understand that either," Mary said. David appeared in the room with two cups of hot tea. He handed one to Mary and sat down on the floor. Regina slowly and carefully loosened Emma's grip on her and softly laid her down in the bed, pulling the blankets over her. "She's drenched in sweat but I don't think any of us wants her to wake up now," Regina said. Mary and David shook their heads. "Excuse me," Regina said as she went out the room to the bathroom, needing to use the toilet.
When she came back, Mary and David were in the middle of a soft conversation. "She has nightmares a lot. Yes, they became less, but I think perhaps it's best if she goes and sees someone," David said. "She doesn't want to go to therapy," Mary said. "I know, but it can't go on like this. Maybe not therapy, but perhaps just talking to someone about it can help," David replied. Regina sat on the floor next to Emma's bed. "We'll talk to her sometime, this is not the right time. We need to give her the choice, okay? We're not forcing her to do anything," Mary said. David nodded. They sat in silence for a while until they heard rustling sheets. They looked at Emma and saw her rolling on her back and side, before she screamed "no!" and jolted upright. Her eyes were wide open, tears were rolling down her cheeks and she breathed fast. "Emma?" Regina asked softly. Emma snapped her head to the side and looked into Regina's warm cocoa eyes. "Gina," she breathed. She climbed out of bed, sat next to her and leaned against her. Regina put an arm around the trembling blonde and dried her tears with her other hand. Mary and David were looking at her in concern. "Would you like some tea?" David gently asked. Emma's head snapped up, a little startled at the voices. She had forgotten that they were in the room as well. She nodded. David gave her his mug and she sipped slowly, her breathing becoming more even with the second. After a few sips of tea, she handed the mug back over to David with a small "thanks" and leaned against Regina again. Suddenly, she realized something. She sat upright and looked at the three faces who stared back at her. "Wait... what is Regina doing here?" she asked. "No wait that came out wrong. I mean... you know," she unsuccessfully tried to say. "I know what you mean," Regina assured the blonde, "I'm here because David called and said you didn't calm down from your nightmare." Emma looked down. "I'm sorry," she whispered, "I probably woke you all up and made a scene." Regina put her finger under Emma's chin and gently pushed it up. "No one blames you for anything sweetie. It's okay. I'm glad I could help." "And we are glad that Regina could help. It's okay Em, everyone has nightmares," David assured Emma. Emma exhaled softly. "I just... why do I always have these stupid nightmares? Why can't my trauma just be... a memory?" she asked desperately. A few tears rolled down her cheek. "I hate this," she muttered. "Oh sweetie," Regina said as she pulled the blonde in for a backwards hug. Emma cried softly, memories of her childhood and reasons why she had to have these stupid nightmares floating through her head.~
"Hey Emmy!" Belle called her friend. Emma turned and smiled tiredly at Belle. "Rough night again?" Belle asked with a small frown. Emma nodded. Regina had stayed with her the whole night, waking up every now and then when Emma had a nightmare. She didn't know what it was that caused her to have this many nightmares in one night. Regina ate breakfast with them and quickly went home to prepare for school. She was very tired too. Mary and David had gone downstairs to sleep after Regina had insisted on it, their sleep lasted a little longer. Emma had insisted on going to school today, her home became a little too much to her. She didn't tell Belle this all though, only Regina, David and Mary knew of her nightmares. The bell rang and they walked towards their first lesson, French.
"Bonjour mademoiselles, comment ça va? (good morning misses, how are you?)" their French teacher asked them. "Ça va bien, (we're good/fine)" Belle and Emma said. Emma was lying. She felt horrible and this was only their first period. She had to go until three fifty pm. This was going to be a long day.
