Saras was passing through a small town, bigger than the one she lived in, but still small. She rode in to the market and found a magic store. She had sold some furniture from the house so she had some money. She was hoping she had enough for a cheaper staff. She went and saw a beautiful staff. The prime holding stick was smooth and about 5 feet. It was a dark wood, not very common for staffs but very effective. The part at the end was a large sapphire which was intertwined in the wood, but still visible, especially from the front. She brought it to the front and asked the clerk who was at the counter.

“How much?” She asked.

“Four gold.” he said blandly.

“Wow. Okay, fine.”

She gave him the money without even inquiring about the staff. She brought it back out to her horse and started to leave the town. Then a man with black, shortish, hair. Came running out in front of her horse. He got out of the way just in time but he was followed be a guard who she smashed right into. The man had some parchment in his hand, looked like a map. He walked up to my horse and said...

“I must thank you for your service, I see you are a water mage. Where are you heading?”

“I... just killed a man. Also, public service!”

“He is not dead, merely unconscious. And he would have killed me.”

“Okay. I'm not a water mage, I'm a fire mage. Why would you think I'm a water mage?”

“Then why do you have a water staff?”

“This is a water staff? I just sorta bought it assuming it was a fire staff.”

“Back to my first question, where are you heading?”

“I'm heading to Tibilof. You?”

“I'm also heading there.”

“Are you part of the Negas?”

“I am. But if you tell anyone, I will hunt you down, and kill you in the most brutal way possible.”

“I won't, I'm going to join them. We should travel together.”

“That would be mutually beneficial. Very well. I will go grab my griffin.”

With that he whistled. A large magnificent griffin landed from the sky beside him. Saras was speechless.

“By the way my name is Saras. What is yours?”

“Lamos.”

He then went atop his griffin and they left the town. He didn't fly because he would have been too fast. They entered a forest, but not too far in they were stopped by a group elves. Elves are a race which consists of dozens of tribes across the land. They once had a prominent civilization, but the human monarchy destroyed it, so they had bad relations with humans. The boss looking one started speaking in Elvin, but Saras had no idea what they were saying. Then Lamos started speaking in Elvin. After a short conversation, the Elves let them go. Where did he learn to speak Elvin thought Saras. That's when Saras realized out just who she was traveling with. A pro.
