"Now I take you to" I  said "the weather." The jaunty folk music broadcasts out to the strange little town of Night Vale. I quietly went to the men's bathroom to pet Khosheck. The cat floating above the sink greets him with a low meow.
"Hello, boy" I greeted, extending a hand to my pet.
The purple and green creature gives me a love bite. I sucked at my bleeding hand and glancing around for the first-aid kit. I look at the sack of of wheat and wheat byproduct free cat food. It was empty.
This broadcaster made a mental note to purchase more after his show. Which had reminded myself that the weather was ending and he needed to get back on the air before his absence was noticed.
"We're back listeners" I said taking a swig of coffee, "During our little break I went to check on Khosheck, the cat floating above the sink in the men's bathroom, and noticed he was out of cat food. This is me reminding myself to pick some up on my way home. Now that I think of it, I should also remind myself to text my sister, Abby. You all know my niece, Janice, right? Well, I have to watch her for two weeks while her parents are away on vacation. It was all Steve's idea."
I thought about how irresponsible it was to go on vacation without your child. Everyone knew Steve and Abby were stressed with work and wanted time to relax. Janice was totally cool with the idea of staying with her uncles for a while. It still irked me, much like everything Steve does.
I continued to read the town events.
"Mayor Dana Cardinal would like to remind you to spend a little time with a lion today. It doesn't have to be a real lion, just something that resembles one. It could even be a drawing of a lion, if you can draw. Just have a good time with your lion."
The broadcast ended with the classic "Good night, Night Vale. Good night." and I went home to Carlos. I had to stop at the store to pick up cat food for Khosheck. I fed the cat and finally got back home. Carlos had been waiting for me.
I picked up my phone to text my sister.
"Hey when r u dropping off Janice?"
Abby Palmer is typing...
"Tomorrow @ 2:30 after school"
Cecil Palmer is typing...
"Good c u then"
"k night"
"Night"
"When's your sister dropping off Janice again?" Carlos asked.
"2:30 after school." I replied.
"Perfect, that gives me enough time to plan out a cool science experiment we could try out. I've been working on this gel that's supposed to shrink sewer rats." Carlos gushed.
I was glad Janice was excited about science like Carlos.
