Carlos was stuck in the lab all day. I visited the radio station to check on Khosheck. He was doing well, floating in his fixed position by the sink in the men's bathroom. His adorable back spikes were very prominent today. I was so proud of that cat. What a good boy!
Since it was by my day to broadcast, I spent the rest of the day getting ready for my niece. I vacuumed the floors, worshipped the glow cloud (ALL HAIL), and screamed into the void for a few hours. Our apartment looked flawless. I checked the time and saw that Janice would be coming over soon. I tried to make some snacks, but the doorbell rang while I was still spreading cheese on the crackers.
"Hi, Janice!" I greeted.
"Hey, uncle Cecil. Where's uncle Carlos?" She asked.
"Carlos will be at the lab for about another hour. In the meantime I made snacks!" I responded. "They're in the kitchen."
I rolled Janice into the kitchen. She was excited for her after school snack. Her mom pulled me into the living room for a second.
"Cecil, I cannot thank you enough for watching her while Steve and I are gone." She said with a smile.
"It's no problem, I love having Janice around. She's a smart girl, she takes after her mother." I replied.
Abby blushed and gave me a hug.
"Bye, honey!" She shouted to Janice in the kitchen. Abby walked over to give her daughter a final hug.
"Cecil, you know how to reach me if anything happens. I'll see you in two weeks. Tell Carlos I said hello." My sister informed.
I gave her a hug and she left.
I turned back to the kitchen to find Janice halfway through her crackers and cheese.
"Someone was hungry." I laughed. "So, what did you do in school today?"
"School was pretty boring." She sighed "I took notes and stuff. That was really it."
"Well, what did you take notes over?" I asked.
"Oh, the usual. The Cold War, The Warm War, and The Unbearably Hot War." She admitted.
I nodded "Ah, I never found wars too intriguing when I was your age." I added.
Janice and I talked together in the kitchen until Carlos came back home. I wheeled Janice to the front door to greet my amazing boyfriend. He was very excited to see Janice, she was excited to see him as well. It was a cute little reunion in the foyer of the apartment.
"Oh, Janice, I have some really cool science experiments for you to try out." Carlos exclaimed.
It was so cute when he got excited about science.
"That sounds awesome!" Janice cheered.
I stood standing beside my two favorite people in the world. Both of them connecting happily over a mutual love of science. I knew this would be a great vacation.
