Help Needed: Babysitting

Four years since Nathan released the music video for his song titled Mangled, Matthew and Stephanie welcomed their first child, a boy named Oliver.

Nathan was asked to be a godparent to Oliver, but he refused, telling Matthew that he was unable to balance his time between pursuing his music career and guiding Oliver spiritually, since he stopped practicing Catholicism as they graduated.

===TIME SKIP===

One day, Matthew was in his house by himself, babysitting Oliver, since Stephanie went out to where she works.

He was feeling bored, thinking to himself, "I never fully realized how hard of a job parenting is. But then again, Stephanie and I have always wanted to start a family. Having a child of your own is a blessing, but taking care of one is no damn joke."

All of a sudden, Oliver started crying while inside his crib.

Matthew immediately carried him and touched his diaper. When he wasn't able to feel anything, Matthew thought, "He surely must be hungry." So, Matthew put Oliver back in his crib and made some milk for him in a baby bottle. As Matthew finished, he carried Oliver again and immediately fed him the milk that he made, which calmed him down.

Matthew proceeded to burp Oliver before putting him back in his crib.

As Oliver went to sleep, Matthew sighed when he sat on his couch. He thought to himself, "Props to every parent out there in the world. Now I feel so bad for taking my parents' life lessons and pieces of advice for granted. But hey, look at me now."

All of a sudden, Matthew had an idea.

He thought to himself, "I hope Nathan isn't busy right now. I'd love to get some help from him with taking care of little Oliver while Steph's at work." But then, Matthew remembered, "He backed out from being one of his godfathers, though." All of a sudden, Matthew chuckled to himself and thought, "Oh, wait. Nathan doesn't practice a religion anymore. My dumbass forgot. He won't be able to guide Oliver spiritually, anyway."

So, Matthew grabbed his phone and texted Nathan.

He said:

"hey, man. I just wanna ask: are you busy rn? 'cause if you're not, would you mind coming over at my place today? I need some help with babysitting Oliver; Stephanie's at work, so I'm alone with him. holla at me when you get this, dude."

As soon as Matthew pressed Send, Oliver started crying again.

He rushed to his crib and immediately carried him. When Matthew smelled Oliver, he gagged and said, "Well, I know why he's crying now." So, Matthew carried Oliver and made their way to the bathroom while bringing a diaper along with him.

Meanwhile, Nathan had recently finished recording a song for his upcoming extended play in his studio when he received Matthew's message.

As he opened it, Nathan thought to himself, "Awww, poor Daddy Matthew. He's clearly struggling babysitting little Oliver all by himself." When he checked his schedule on his calendar, Nathan saw that he had no upcoming activities planned.

So, he immediately texted Matthew back.

He told him:

"yo, dude. of course I'm down to lend a helping hand. I just finished recording a song today when I got this text. don't worry. I'll come over in a few."

Nathan proceeded to change his clothes before making his way to Matthew's house.

When he arrived a few minutes later, Nathan heard Oliver crying through Matthew's door, so he waited for him to calm down outside of Matthew's doorstep. As soon as the noise died down, Nathan immediately knocked on Matthew's door.

Matthew immediately opened the door.

He gave Nathan a hug and said, "What's up, man? Glad you're down to help me with Oliver." Nathan smiled at Matthew, hugged him back, and replied, "I know I turned down your offer of godfathering Oliver, but how could I resist such a cutie?"

Matthew playfully slapped Nathan's arm.

Afterwards, he said, "Come in, man." So, Nathan entered Matthew's house. As Matthew closed the door, Nathan slowly went to see Oliver sleeping inside his crib. He looked at Matthew and softly said, "Oliver's handsome. Just like his father."

Matthew jokingly rolled his eyes.

Then, Nathan asked, "So, what do you need help with, New Daddy?" Matthew asked back, "Have you ever taken care of a baby before?" Nathan scoffed and said, "Of course I have, man." Matthew then said, "OK, then. I need some help with telling what Oliver's crying for or about. 'Cause there are times when he cries for some reason even after I change his diaper or feed him." Nathan nodded slowly and said, "I can do that."

Matthew and Nathan proceeded to sit on the couch, alerting each other when Oliver suddenly starts crying inside of his crib.
