As Daring Do trekked through the tropical jungle, the wet heat sapped her energy and slowed her every step.
If only she could escape this oppressive atmosphere and fly up into the cool blue sky.
Normally, she could soar out of there in a flash, but the crash landing in the jungle had quickly put a end to any flying. Even moving her wing ever so slightly caused her to be overcome by a sharp stinging sensation.
Daring knew she would be grounded for a few days. Few days. It might as well be a few months. Or a few years
Daring thought bitterly and groaned at the thought of being stuck in this disgusting, pathetic place for years.
The mosquitoes buzzed loudly, the sound ringing directly in her ears. The macaws cried from the high trees. Yet all of these distracting noises were not enough to cover the sound of the predators following her every move.
As Daring do paused to draw for breath, she found herself face to face with the very ferocious beast, she sought to avoid. The beast towered over her with a crazy, mad gleam in his eyes that suggested he had certainly found his next prey.
Its sole presence cast a dark shadow over the jungle.
Its beady eyes stared straight at her still, devoid of any mercy.
She was smart enough to see what was coming next - and sharply ducked out of the way when it tried to launch its vicious attack with its sharp claws and teeth bear, gnashing and snarling at her. By instinct- Daring jumped out of reach over the huge wooden log, then began grinning.
Her smile faded however, when she realized she had more company.
A noble black panther, a majestic cheetah, a cougar and for some odd reason a baby kitten?Daring do suddenly broke out into a wide grin.
Her panic was soon overcome by sharp relief, as the most obvious solution came to her.
Daring do jumped right over the little kitten, who was currently hissing loudly and waving its claws about. It tried to slow her down and look frighting, but it was failing miserably at it.
The other animals weren't going to give up easily either.
All the animals sprinted directly after her with such lightening speed, the kitten got trampled, knocked and fell to the side. ( unnoticed)
Daring do raced past the various shrubs, huge wooden oak trees, and dangling loose branches
Wind rushed through her mane. Heart thumping, adrenaline pumping through her. She had never felt so alive.
Daring knew that this was what she was meant to do-with or without her wings.
However, what she saw next caused her to stop straight in her tracks.Daring do let at out a huge gasp at sight of it.
It was rough, battered looking cliff, running several metres deep. It looked as though it were no possible way to cross it, (that is, if she wanted to risk yet another major injury)
Daring shut her eyes tightly and desperately tried to regain her calm composure.
Her eyes massively lit back up again: a single loose vine was hanging- just there. it was just within her reach too.
Daring broke out into a fast run: she leapt, clung hardly onto the vine, and swung swiftly to the other side .
Daring do could hardly believe her luck.
She was safe.
