The silence surrounding the group was suffocating as Larry and Sal gauged Y/n's response. The girl's eyes were wide, her pupils small with panic as her brain tried to process what she was seeing. Right in front of her, was a small girl with purple hair, and dead, pale eyes. Her tattered dress draped down the child's small frame, dragging along the ground, the brown color making her face stand out. Currently, Y/n and Megan had frozen in shock, not expecting the other to be present as they locked eyes.
Finally, after a minute or so, Megan's form quickly disappeared without another word, the only sound being that strangled gurgling Y/n had heard earlier, as the child's body seemed to melt into the ground. With a sudden gasp, Y/n crumpled to the ground and simply sat there, still gazing at the spot Megan just was with a dazed expression and her mouth agape in shock. 'What the hell just happened.. There's no way that was real..Holy shit..' Y/n thought to herself, hardly noticing Sal's cautious approach as he slowly kneeled down to grab Y/n's attention. Larry still stood in place, wincing slightly at Y/n's grip on his wrist as she collapsed. She had been gripping his arm tightly since seeing Megan, and it was moderately uncomfortable. Awkwardly clearing his throat, Larry spoke up, careful of his tone as to not startle Y/n more.
After hearing Larry clear his throat, Y/n snapped out of her daze and looked up at the brunette curiously as he began to speak. "Uh..Y/n, dude. I don't mind you holding onto me, but you're kinda hurting my arm." Larry stated, his laid back voice never faltering, a quiet snort was heard as he chuckled at Y/n panicking, her face red as she let his arm go and stood up. After apologizing to Larry, she turned to Sal who had stood with her, noticing a dust bunny on his black sweater, she absentmindedly brushed it off, flustering the boy slightly as he spoke.
Sal's voice was a bit gruff as his throat was a bit dry from the nerves, so before speaking he cleared his throat as he rubbed the back of his neck. "So, Y/n..You alright? Larry was scared shitless too when he first saw her." Sal stated, ignoring the look of betrayal from Larry as he faintly blushed. "Way to make me cool to the new girl, Sally Face.." Larry mumbled, looking away as Y/n giggled at the thought of a terrified Larry hiding behind Sal. "Don't worry, Lar. I still think you're cool." She teased, ignoring the huff coming from the now pouting brunette beside her, his hands shoved in his pockets. Y/n turned to Sal, who was looking around as if trying to find someone or something. She quietly placed her hand on Sal's shoulder, making the boy flinch slightly as he quickly looked towards her.
Y/n pulled her hand back quickly, not expecting Sal to respond like he did. "Sorry, Sal.. I didn't mean to startle you. I was just going to ask if you were alright. You seem like you're trying to find something." The girl said quietly, nodding when Sal relaxed and shook his head. "No, I'm alright. I was just trying to see if Megan would come back out for a bit since you're a girl. But, she's really shy about new people, so she tends to hide for a while. She's really friendly." Sal replied, headed towards the door of the decrepit apartment. The bluenette turned to look at Y/n and Larry, who were walking side by side and chatting amongst themselves. "So, Y/n, what's for lunch?" Sal teased, successfully earning a groan from the H/c girl as she slouched and walked towards him dejectedly.
Having forgotten the bet in all the excitement, Y/n couldn't help but pout. She didn't know any good places here in Nockfell, which, oddly enough, really didn't seem to have any available fast food places or cafes. Y/n wracked her brain for a second, before sighing and settling on cooking at her place. I mean, a bet is a bet. "We'll eat at my apartment. I can cook, just gotta tell me what you two want." Y/n stated, nudging Sal as he mulled over his options. "I dunno, N/n, pizza sounds pretty good. Can always pick up needed ingredients at the market. What do you think, Larry?" Sal asked, his best friend humming in thought. "Yeah, I could go for pizza right now. I'm starved." He replied, carelessly throwing his arm around Sal's shoulders, causing the smaller boy to regain his balance after stumbling from the sudden weight. "I swear, you two could be brothers." Y/n teased, tying her hair back as the group walked to the elevators, pushing the button for the 4th floor. "So, pizza it is then, boys?" She asked, her voice lighter and more carefree as her shock and anxiety had begun to fade. Her question earned two nods of approval from her new friends as the three stepped into the old elevator, looking at each other apprehensively as the doors groaned in protest before they closed.
The three chatted quietly about their day, and of course, what toppings to put on the homemade pizza to come, which everyone was excited about. Once the elevator dinged, and came to a grinding halt on floor 4, the trio got off, and headed straight for Y/n's place to start working on their lunch for the day. Y/n hummed as she walked ahead, pulling her key out if her pocket and unlocking her door. As she opened it she heard a sudden shout come from behind her, she turned quickly and froze at what she saw, and all she could do was hold her breath as she watched. Larry and Sal were play fighting down the hall, just messing around, when apparently when Y/n stopped looking, Larry managed to lift Sal and carry the defeated, grumbling boy over his shoulders. Needless to say, Larry had a shit eating grin on his face, Sal was pouting with his arms crossed and hair disheveled, and Y/n was trying not to laugh at the two goof balls in front of her.
As Larry walked up closer to Y/n's room, she shook her head and chuckled as she stepped aside to let the two through her doorway, awkwardly waving at her now incredibly confused neighbor, before stepping inside herself and closing the door. Y/n covered her mouth to stifle a giggle as she witnessed Larry body slam poor Sal onto the f/c couch, causing the boy to bounce and fall onto the floor with a thud, his hand rising just enough to flip off a laughing Larry. Y/n chuckled as she leaned over the couch to see a mess of blue hair and splayed limbs on her floor, narrowly missing the glass coffee table. "You alright, Sal?" Y/n asked teasingly, her e/c eyes glinting with mischief as Sal looked up briefly, before laying back down and covering his face with an arm, only responding with a groan before rolling onto his stomach and sitting on his knees.
Y/n couldn't help but chuckle as she walked into her kitchenette and gathered all the ingredients needed to make a pizza. Her playful eyes now focused on the task at hand as she thumbed through her recipe box that sat on her counter top. With a noise of approval, Y/n pulled a recipe card out of the little box and skimmed the writing as she scurried about her kitchen, grabbing ingredients left and right. She glided around the kitchenette, preheating the oven to 475, then getting a large bowl from the bottom cabinets, Y/n began mixing her dry ingredients together, humming as she worked, oblivious to the stunned stares Sal and Larry were giving her, before looking at each other and nodding, before walking into the kitchen and reading the recipe card, and gathering the other ingredients and tools. Gaining a small smile from Y/n.
Staying clear of Y/n's work area, Larry gathered the wet ingredients needed and whisked them together in a medium bowl, making a slight mess as he did so but paid no mind. Sal, on the other hand, got a pizza pan floured and ready, as well as a rolling pin, and plastic wrap, soon starting on the tomato sauce they'd need. Once Larry finished whisking, he waited for Y/n to create a well in the flour mixture, before pouring in the oil mix to form the dough. As Y/n worked, the mix soon formed into a dough and they wrapped the dough to chill.
About an hour passed, and the trio were watching shows on Y/n's television. Y/n laid out on her sofa, checking the time occasionally, while Sal and Larry settled on the floor in front of her. Just as Y/n began to doze off, the alarm began to ring, signaling that their masterpiece was ready to be taken out and cooled. The sudden sound elicited a yelp and a flinch from the h/c girl, her e/c eyes glaring holes into Larry who was too busy stifling his laughter to care.
As Y/n stood she sighed and stretched out, "accidentally " smacking Larry's shoulder, only receiving amused laughing as he lightly swatted back. With a huff, the h/c girl headed towards the oven and shut off the ringing alarm on the nearby countertop.
Opening the oven, Y/n's voice rang out to the boys over her shoulder, the triumphant tone signaling that lunch was ready. Happy banter filled the apartment as the boys waltzed over, playfully rough housing as they approached before grabbing their plates, large smiles etched into their faces.
(A/N: Sorry for the abrupt hiatuses I take, readers. I'll try to update more as it comes. This chapter was in drafts for awhile and I'm happy to have it posted. Hope you enjoyed! I'll try to shorten my chapters a bit as this was a long one.)
