IT IS MID-DECEMBER NOW. The beautiful shades of autumn leaves were now a rusty brown as the weather readied itself for the winter. Luckily, it hasn't gotten too cold yet. But it's just enough for people to bring out their winter apparel.

Both young women were up and moving despite their attempts at sleeping longer. Everyone in the Carpenter household were up to their own devices. River and the two sisters, seem to be in disarray as they gathered in Sabrina's room.

Well, Sabrina was in disarray.

River and Sarah, however, were growing impatient with the blonde as they sat on the bed, watching as she paced across the cool wooden tiles.

"Sabrina," River calls out. But Sabrina couldn't hear. Too caught up in her head. River couldn't understand why she was making a big deal out of this.

"Sabrina!" Sarah calls, her tone somewhat louder than River's had been. Yet, the blonde didn't make any sign of recognition at the call of her name. Both girls watch the blonde standing before them in concern. They look at each other with furrowed brows.

"Why is she making this such a big deal? He just liked your post of her," Sarah questions with an exasperated sigh.

"I mean, he is her ex-boyfriend... who cheated on her," River reminds the older girl. "Also, nobody heard shit from him after the breakup besides what we see from the news." Sarah only hums in acknowledgment as she continues, watching her sister pace the room. This goes on for a few moments as they wait for Sabrina to come up from the wave of worry she's drowning herself in.

Patience running thin, River stands to her feet and lumbers over to the blonde. Incoherent swear words slipped from her mouth as she went. Once in front of her, River reaches out and grabs Sabrina's shoulders, pulling her to a halt. Sabrina tardily brings her eyes to meet the person who dragged her away from her thoughts. She meets the worried eyes of her almost lover. A frown makes way to her face when noticing the concerned yet puzzled look on River's face. River brings a hand to Sabrina's face, softly caressing her cheek as she observes her. Seeing the minor crinkles painted across her forehead and the way her breath was gradually growing uneven, showing how much the blonde was truly working herself up over something so small.

River isn't sure what to do in this situation. She isn't the best at comforting others, shape, or form. Hell, she could merely help herself out in anything dealing with her own emotions. Things like this often made her uncomfortable because she was not any help in adverse circumstances. Despite this, she'd try to help any way she could. Letting out a small sigh, River pulls the blonde into her. The blonde lays her head on River's chest, closing her eyes as she follows the sound of her heartbeat.

River shifts her head to face Sabrina's sister. Sarah tries to push down a laugh as she witnesses the confusion written on her friend's face. The brunette shrugs at her, not being much help. With a roll of her eyes, River gently pulls Sabrina away from the embrace. She led her back to where she was sitting briefly with Sarah; the blonde sandwiched between the two. Realizing River's slight discomfort, Sarah takes the lead in the situation. "You know, it is just a picture that he liked, right?"

River then adds, "yeah, it's not like he commented on it or anything."

"I know." Sabrina nods in agreement. "But he doesn't even like you, so why would he even interact with your post?" She asks, the question being directed at River. This makes River halt for a moment. Now that she thinks about it, she wasn't wrong. Neither of them liked one another and made it clear as day when he and Sabrina were together. And as Sabrina had pointed out, Griffin never did interact with any of River's posts, not even when it was a picture about Sabrina. So why now? Is it possible he wants something to do with the blonde once again? Not wanting to get into her head, River paused those thoughts.

"Maybe it was nothing," Sarah suggests with a shrug, hoping she was convincing enough for herself and the possible couple seated beside her. It seemed to have worked in her favor as she noticed a sense of calmness wavering from her sister.

"Let's hope so. This douchebag still deserves an ass whooping for playing my girl like that," River says, placing an arm around Sabrina's shoulders and pulling her into her side. They all laugh at River's empty threat. They spent the rest of the morning hanging out with one another until it was time for the two young stars to split off to handle their business.

"We have an appointment about our outfits. The Emmy's are coming up, remember?" Sabrina reminds the girl as they make their way to River's car.

"Oh yeah, I forgot about that," the darker girl admits.

"I know," Sabrina teases. River playful pushes her shoulder, both of them laughing together.

"What time is that again?" River asks.

"We have to be there around two, I think." River nods, making a mental reminder. Once they reach her car, River leans her back against the vehicle's hood. "Where are you about to go now?" She asks the blonde.

"I have a few interviews with InStyle, Elle, and then I have a meeting to go to with my manager about the movie I'm going to be in. What about you?"

"I gotta be on set to shoot a few scenes. Then I have to perform for Corden's show. Then I'm free for the rest of the evening," River replies.

"When do you have to be there?" Sabrina asks curiously.

"I'm going to leave the set around three so that I can rehearse a little if I needed to before the performance. Zendaya and Algee wanted to go with me. You wanna join us?" River asks the blonde.

"Sure. I'll meet you guys on set, and we can take my car?" She suggests, receiving a nod from the girl. "What are you gonna be singing?"

"That's for me to know and for you to find out," River replies with a wink.

"You're insufferable," Sabrina grumbles after spending two minutes trying to get River to reveal the song. River responds by giving her a big goofy smile. She was enjoying the defeated look on Sabrina's face. She was so close to breaking when the blonde tried to get more information from her-tilting her head and enlarging her eyes in a way a puppy would when trying to get what they want from their owner.

"But you love it, don't you, sweetheart?" River teases. A blush makes its way onto Sabrina's face at the pet name. She turns away from River, not seeing how the pet name affected her. But she was too late. "Oh, are you blushing?" The blonde put her hands against her face.

"Shut up," Sabrina mumbles underneath her hands. The next few minutes are spent with River's continuous teasing, ending with Sabrina being chased by the slightly taller girl. All that is heard on the block is River's laughter and Sabrina's screams of threats about how she'll pay for this later. Slowly, the chase dies down once they make it back to River's car. Both girls break down into fits of giggles as they try to catch their breath.

"As fun as that was, I have to go now if I want to make it to set on time," River says, still out of breath as she checks the time on her watch. Sabrina only nods, still catching her breath.

"Be safe. Call me when you're on your way to set, okay?" River says as she hugs the blonde goodbye, kissing her forehead, before getting in her car.

"You too, and I will." Sabrina steps away from the vehicle and heads to her car. "I love you!" She calls out, waving as River drives past her.

"I love you too!" River yells from the window, honking her car horn as she passes the blonde. And with that, both young women were off to do what they needed.
