ELSA POV
we reached hogwarts and took our seats in the great hall
We started eating as dumbledore said his usual every year speech
"Good evening, children. Now we have 2 changes in staffing this year. We're pleased to welcome back professor Grubbly-plank, who'll be taking Care of Magical Creatures, while professor hagrid is on a temporary leave. We also wish to welcome our new defense against the dark arts teacher, professor Dolores Umbridge. And I'm sure you'll all join me in wishing the professor good luck. Now as usual, our caretaker, Mr. Filch, has asked me to remind you-" dumbledore was interrupted
We looked towards the pink thing, also known as umbridge, to see that she interrupted professor dumbledore
Everyone in the hall, including the staff members, looked at the pink thing
Umbridge stood up and walked towards dumbledore
"She was at my hearing. She works for fudge" harry told us
"Thank you, headmaster, for those kind words of welcome. And how lovely to see all your bright happy happy faces smiling up at me" umbridge, no wait, actually, umbitch said
I looked around the hall to see no one was smiling, actually they had glum looks on their faces
"I'm sure we're all going to be very good friends" umbitch continued
"That's likely" I heard fred and george say with an amusing look on their faces
"The ministry of magic has always considered the education of young witches and wizards to be vital importance. Although each headmaster has bought something new to this historic school, but progress for the sake of progress must be discouraged. Let us preserve what must be preserved, perfect what can be perfected, and prune practices that ought to be prohibited" umbridge whispered the last 2 words and finished with a sick giggle
"What, a beautiful, giggle" I said sarcastically as ron and anna chuckled "Thank you professor umbridge. That really was most illuminating" dumbledore said and started clapping, which was followed by some lazy claps from the students
But that could not be said the same for filch. Who was clapping, quite excitedly
"Illuminating? What a load of waffle" ron said
"What's that mean?" I asked
"It means the ministry is interfering at hogwarts" hermione replied
