I looked over at my phone. It was a text from Reyna.
Reyna: Hey Percy
Percy: hi
Reyna: could u meet me at the park in 5?
Percy: sure
I stuffed my phone in my back pocket and headed to the door. I had always been the one people went to with their problems. I'd been Reyna and Jason's couple councilor basically since they started dating, so I knew exactly what she wanted to talk about.
The fall air hit me as I stepped out of my dorm, hanging a left I headed for the park. Reyna was sitting on a park bench near the front, I spotted her once I got through the little gate. I gave a little wave and jogged over to her. Once I'd come within hearing distance of her she asked me just one thing.
"Did you tell Jason to break up with me?"
"No" I said confused "why would I do that"
"Oh." she said guiltily. "It's just that Jason was repeating it to himself like he had to remember something, maybe something you told him."
Then it hit me, I had told Jason to break up with her. Hadn't I?
"Well," I said scratching my neck, "I kinda maybe did indiscreetly, but just cause I felt he wasn't really invested in your relationship, or at least not as much as he should have been."
Reyna turned a cold glare on me and smacked me on the shoulder "How dare you say when he isn't invested in our relationship! It isn't yours, if you want to play match maker go on some girly website, don't mess with real people!" She had stood up now and was yelling her head off. "It's because you wanted to match up him and that Piper girl isn't it! What does he see in her?! Jason and I have been together for five years and you Mister Jackson, broke us up on our goddam anniversary! Is it cause you're jealous? Well get your own life!" She sat back down on the bench and started crying.
I sat down next to her and wrapped my arm around her.
"It's ok Reyna." I soothed, "I get that you're angry, you have every right to be, I'm sorry." I wasn't offended by anything she said, it wasn't really her speaking, it was the angry sadness. At that point she was sobbing into my shirt.
"Ugh!" She sobbed, "Why aren't you angry?! Why are you so goddam perfect Jackson?"
I rubbed her back soothingly in little circles. "Shh it's okay." I turned her to face me, and looked her in the eye. "Have you talked to Jason since . . . you know?" She shook her head.
"When he chased after me I hid behind a bush." She hung her head a little.
"Well I think you should go talk to him, just so you can hear his side of the story." She nodded.
"Thanks Percy." She looked up at me. "You're just too perfect." And before I knew what was happening she pulled me in and kissed me. On the lips. No, not a friend kiss. Spluttering, I pushed her off. As if my life couldn't get any worse, I saw Annabeth just a few yards away. Staring. At us. I saw her turn away and I stood to run toward her, ignoring Reyna's pleas.
"Annabeth!" I yelled. She whipped her head back around, her eyes angry and filled with tears.
"Her?!" Was the whisper that came out of her mouth. I shook my head.
