Biyya was standing in front of the entrance of Siloam Sriwijaya hospital. Her face harbors all anxiety. Biyya went to hospital with Akbar, as Biyya persuades Akbar to immediately take her to see Dafi. They stepped towards the entrance and pressed the elevator button to get to the receiptionist table.
"Excuse me, I want to see a patient named Dafi," said Biyya with a disjointed breath.
"Sorry ma'am, what can I do for you?"
"We want to see a patient named Dafi," said Akbar.
"All right, sir. May I know his full name?"
"Dafi Anugerah."
"Allright. Please wait a minute, I will check first," the receptionist checked the name on the computer.
"The patient on behalf of Dafi Anugerah was in room 521."
"Thank you."
After getting information from the receiptionist, Biyya and the brown-skinned man immediately entered the elevator to the fifth floor. Not far from the elevator room numbered 521 already seen. There is a figure of a thin and tall woman wearing glamorous clothes walking look likes restless while holding a bag and talking on the phone. She looks like a businesswoman. Exactly they're standing in front of room 521.
"Excuse me," Biyya said while knocking on the room door.
"Sorry, who are you?"
"We're Dafi's friends, Ma'am. Is Dafi inside?" asked Akbar.
"Let's go into the room."
The woman is Dafi's mother. She opened the door and let them in. Dafi lay weak on his bed helpless. His face is pale, his body looks thinner. Biyya couldn't hold back the tears of seeing her ex-boyfriend lying weak with an oxygen hose attached to his nose. Akbar never expected, five days earlier Dafi still had time to joke with him. He said it was just a common pain and still asked Akbar to re-open his coffee shop.
"Dafi was in a coma a few days ago and to this day has not woken up," his mother said.
"Have you had the results of the doctor?" said Biyya to the woman.
"Already. Dafi suffer from stage 3 lung cancer," his mother's cry broke out just then.
"What? Lung cancer?" asked Akbar, not believing in it.
***
"Biyya, are you crying? Why?" said Mily who had just arrived at Biyya's boarding house.
"Dafi," she replied with a tearful face.
"Why?" Mily rubbed her back slowly.
"He's hospitalized, Ly. He's got lung cancer."
"Oh my God!" Mily's eyes grow. She closed her gaping mouth to be surprised to hear it.
"What am I supposed to do now? This all happened for sure because I chose to break up. And then he's getting less and less fussy for smoking. It's my fault, isn't it?"
"No. I think it's all God's will. Don't blame yourself like that. We should pray for Dafi recovers quickly," Mily said.
Poignant. Biyya has to experience this again. Willing to keep herself busy with everything, Biyya still thinks about Dafi. Seeing the man whose name is still stuck in her heart is weak and helpless. The more she thinks about it, the tighter her chest is. Her greatest hope right now is that Dafi can wake up from his coma.
A glass of hot coffee latte became her friend tonight with a novel that she had long brought from Surabaya, but she does not had time to read. Rain poured down on the city, occasionally followed by the sound of thunder blaring violently. Biyya grabbed her cell phone and closed the windows and doors tightly. Then, she enjoy a hot coffee latte while reading the love story in the novel.
Biyya's phone rang. One call from Akbar. Akbar asked Biyya to replace him to keep Dafi in the hospital. This is a request from Dafi's mother who can't take care of her son because she has business dealings with her business associates. The reason Akbar could not take care of Dafi because he has to keep the coffee shop open. So, Biyya doesn't mind and approved the entreaty.
"What's your name, pretty?"
"I am Biyya."
"Dafi's friend?"
"Yes," Biyya said.
"Wait. It looks like I've seen you, but where? I forgot."
"Oh really?"
"Ahh! I've seen pictures of you in my son's room. You're Dafi's girlfriend? As far as I know, Dafi has never had a girlfriend. Your pictures are the first one he put on his bedroom wall."
"Really?" Biyya smiled.
"Okay Biyya, I left Dafi with you. Please take care of him."
"Yes, of course." Replied Biyya.
Slowly Biyya draws herself closer to Dafi. Her hand held Dafi's fingers. At that moment her tears again trickled down to see Dafi's condition. Biyya looks at Dafi's pale face.
"May you get well soon, Daf," she said quietly.
"Bi... is that you?"
Biyya turned to find the man slowly opening his eyes and moving his fingers. Biyya immediately came out to call a doctor. Her thin lips see Dafi conscious.
"Have you awake, Daf? Now you have to eat, it help you recover quckly," Biyya fed him a bowl of porridge.
"Biyya, are you sure with your decision? Honestly, I can't forget you. I am still in love with you."
"You have already full, now you must sleep."
"Biyya," he called.
"Whats up? If you need something just call me."
"I am still in love with you. I'm sorry all this time if I'm not a man like what you want to be. Please, don't leave me," said Dafi.
"Alright, I am here. The thing you have to do now is recuperate."
Day by day, Biyya takes care of Dafi. Today is the fourth day Dafi maintained by Biyya at Siloam hospital. Also, Biyya got the information from Akbar that Dafi's parents were returning to Palembang at night.
Dafi is not doing well today. But, Biyya was standing beside Dafi in the all day. Suddenly, Biyya woke up on that night. Biyya's hand gripped his hand. However, Biyya finds Dafi gaping asphyxiation. Biyya ran to the door and called the doctor for help.
Biyya closes her mouth and her tears flow rapidly to see Dafi. While the nurse was checking Dafi's pulse.
"Doctor, the patient is gone," said the nurse.
"No... Impossible, isn't it, Doctor? Dafi, wake up, Daf. I beg you," Said Biyya weeping as she held Dafi's hand.
The door opened. Dafi's parents entered in a hurry. They approached Biyya in tears. Akbar was coming too.
"Biyya, what's wrong with Dafi? My son is okay, right?" asked his mother worriedly.
Biyya does not answer Dafi's mother's. Her gaze remains forward with a blank stare.
"Answer!!!" snapped the woman by shaking her body violently.
"Dafi..." Biyya was unable to say it, even her tears fell down profusely.
"Dafi already passed away," Biyya said, bowing her head and crying. Her body weakened and fell to the floor. Both his parents were shocked to hear Biyya's statement and burst into hysterical tears.
