TRIP TOWARDS TRUTH

CHAPTER 6

Lilly's POV -
We were having our dinner. Or maybe I should say noodles. Well, whatever it is,  it tasted delicious after the unimaginable tremendous running. After a couple of bites and slurp's, Jake looked up, I knew he was going to say something so I continued slurping my noodles. "Lilly-" he called me. "Hmm" I hummed lifting my face. "I have a surprise for you!" he said smiling from ear to ear. "What?? a surprise??!! Tell me!! tell me!! Tell me!!" I urged him to tell me the surprise. "Well if I tell you now, then that won't be a surprise anymore," he said with a sweet chuckle. And received a groan complemented with rolled eyes from me. He stood up like any gentleman and said, "follow me". I followed him.
"Why are we going upstairs, are we going in that room??" I asked him like an innocent kid or maybe I should say more of a curious kid. "Patience Lil, patience!" he said.
(The short form of Lilly is Lil.)
There was another staircase beside the end of the rooms. He smirked a bit looking at them and said "let's go" he added, grabbing my hand. After some steps, we reached the terrace. I stepped out. The scene was auspicious. Moon was dancing in the sky up there. "Come here," Jake said pointing towards a passage, he went through the passage and gave me his hand. (Here, a passage is nothing but a way or path that connects one side of the terrace to the other one)
I walked through and was stunned by the decoration. Wow. I was just speechless. Plants were decorated with series. Seats were made with tires. Lights were placed inside beer bottles, that were tied up with some strings. Balloons were dancing on the floor. Peaceful romantic music was playing in the background. But wait, Jake is an army, how can he play this type of music. Anyway, I should concentrate on the things which are happening, Not the ones that should've been. In the middle, there was a table for two people, entirely caring food. Jake suddenly looked at me, for a second there was silence. And he held my hand with his soft hand. I looked at him. He is looking tempting in the moonlight. Oh my God. Oh my God. What is he doing???!! I can feel all my red blood cells bursting and my face turning into a red tomato. Wait, am I blushing!! Why?? Why the fuck am I blushing?? Someone save me!! Wait, someone should save me from my best friend?? It is awkward. But why is this even affecting me? I mean, he is my best friend he can hold my hand. Hey, I was panicking and blushing I think I should continue that. "Lilly-" he said I looked up to gesture as if I am listening to him. Oh my God. He placed both his hand around my hand. For the first time, Jake's gaze felt so weird. Why is my brain is saying no while my heart is forcing me to go with the flow? And he confessed. Yes!! My bestie confessed to me!! He has said The three magical words!! And that's for me.
I looked at him worried and started "Jakey-" but suddenly the ground started moving. I looked down. Worried. And big lightning approached the sky. "Jake??" I called him as he was shaking me. Yeah I know it's weird. I mean earlier he was all romantic and now totally weird. "Agghh!! Jake!! Stop hitting me" I screamed at him as he was tapping my cheeks continuously. I closed my eyes in annoyance and opened them suddenly, and found that I am not on the terrace anymore. I closed my eyes again and rubbed them with my hands and opened them slowly. I moved my neck from left to right and recognised that Jake was standing near me. "Jakey-" I started."what 'jakey-'?? I can't believe you, how can you sleep like this". Wait, sleep?? Ohh I was sleeping!! That means that was a dream. Wow!! I am saved! Ok, so Lilly, now you have to face Jake. "Sorry, Jakey, actually I was so tired that I fell asleep, sorry!!" I said with all the innocence I have. "Ok" he accepted my apologies "now, eat this!" he said pointing towards the noodles. I picked the cup noodles and had a bite. I didn't have to make any efforts to show satisfaction after eating them.
"Lilly" he called me. I hummed as a response. "I want to show you something". He told me to follow him. And I did that like any obedient child. We reached the terrace. And the whole way I was praying "don't it be a terrace!! Please don't" and we are here at the terrace!! Wow to my luck!! Well, I didn't know I could see the future through my dreams. Lilly focus on the present!! I scolded myself quietly and moved. Jake turned to look at me. Please don't be a proposal. I prayed again. "Lilly-" he called me. I looked up. "I just want to...." Jake started but cutting him I started "Jakey, I know what are you going to say.... But this can't happen" I completed with empathy in my words. His expression suddenly changed in "what? you knew I was gonna thank you?" "Thank me??" "Yes, you've been with me all this time, therefore I was gonna thank you" Jake completed. Oh, how stupid I am. Seriously. "Yes, I knew that and you don't have to thank me. You were also there with me, whenever I was feeling low, and when my family was facing their worst, so I am the one who should thank you, so thank you so much." I said hiding my stupidity. He hugged me right immediately after hearing this. And now I was not uncomfortable, I was in the arms of one of the most handsome men in the world. And the fear of him being in love with me was all gone. He loves me as a friend. Today's day was filled with sorrows but in the end, I was happy I am resting in my best friend's arms. There was silence for some minutes. But the 'some' minutes turned to be extraordinary.

Jake's POV -
We parted from the hug. And she looked down. I am sure she is worried about something, but she won't tell me until I ask her so I asked her what's wrong "Jakey, sorry but I think I've lost the pendant you've given me. Sorry, I didn't do that on purpose." She started whining "By the way Lil, do you know a fact. You are more important to me than that pendant. So don't worry, I know you didn't do that on purpose. So stop crying now. I promise that when we reach home, I'll gift you a better one." I tried to console her. "Really??" She asked me with tears in her eyes, just like a cute innocent kid. "Yes really!!"
"Hey, we left the noodles I've made in the kitchen only, let's go, we have to continue eating them" "ok let's go" she agreed
We were at the stairs when suddenly we heard a knock on the door. Both of us got scared, I was praying don't it be the homeowner. There was continuous knocking now. But somehow gathering some courage I asked. Who's there?!!
