TRIP TOWARDS TRUTH

CHAPTER 4

Ben's POV -
I was searching for a network, I found it but soon it disappeared the second I discovered it. I became disappointed but continued in the same direction, to find if I discover something further.
I was gradually roaming and was moving my phone upside down and left to right. Then suddenly a bright ray ( coming through the sky ) caught my attention, I looked up to find it was none other than the moon. Looking up I noticed, the moon was bright but was alone in the dark sky, even though few stars were there, but not much. For a while, I felt the moon was representing our lonesomeness and the situation of being alone. When I was thinking about these things suddenly I heard something which took me out of my thoughts. I looked in the direction from which the sound was coming. For a second I was worried about who might be there. I was totally scared, as some random dangerous thoughts showed up in my mind. I was feeling every cell in my body shivered. Then gathering some courage "who's there. ??! Who's NOISE is this?!" I asked with a shudder. "BOO!!" Carl appeared in front of me.

Carl's POV -
"BOO!!" The second I appeared in front of ben, he trembled and screamed, not much loud but enough to be heard by both of us. For a second there was silence. He had an expression as if he was taking time processing my presence. The next second he had an angry expression and "are you mad?! Are you out of your mind!! This prank was very rubbish!! You are such a senseless person" he was saying whatever came out of his mind. While I was busy laughing at him, my plan was successful!!!... He was seriously angry at me and was continuously admonishing me. Without pausing to criticize me he took a step back but suddenly stopped in confusion. As he suddenly stopped, I unknowingly followed his actions (of confusion and looking down) to find what was wrong. And found his feet were not on the ground but was on a RATTLESNAKE!!!!... Within a fraction of seconds, that rattlesnake turned and bite Ben on his foot. Both of us panicked, Ben screamed in panic, while I was standing, staring at the snake, I wanted to cry out, wanted to move but wasn't able to, it's not like I didn't try, but my legs were too stiff to move. At a point, I felt my legs were glued to the surface. when unintentionally I fell on the ground on my buttocks. My eyes continuously trying to find what might the snake do next?? *hissing* the snake came towards me. I was frantic. I took a step back or I should say I crawled back a bit. And with all the mighty power I have, I tried to get up and run towards others.

Lilly's POV -
I was busy searching for a network. After some time I heard a scream. I quickly turned back and ran in the direction of the yell. Everyone gathered at a place, I think everyone heard the shout. We stopped for a while, looked at each other but everyone had confusion in their sights, we were heading in the direction of the scream but suddenly stopped, as unexpectedly Carl came from that direction. He went near Ally and Troy and was trying to say something. But we were not able to understand as he was breathing too heavily. All we were able to understand was, he was talking about Ben. ( Carl was saying be- b- be- ). Inattentively we heard a sound (rattle). Carl got frightened. He tried to run away from there, he pushed Troy to make his way and went away. The push by Carl made Troy fall on his buttock. Troy got furious, "this little punk! I'll go take care of him!" Saying this troy followed Carl. "Hey! You guys see what's wrong with Ben, till then I'll stop Troy. But make sure you stay together, so stay connected! Bye!" Saying this soon Ally headed towards the direction in which both of them went soon she disappeared too. Now, I and Jake went in the direction of the noise. We reached there and "OMG!!!" There was a huge rattlesnake on Ben's body. Ben's toe was swollen, he was huffing heavily "he- hel- help-" that's all he was saying and the next second there was silence only the hissing and rattling of the snake was heard. The rattlesnake then turned towards us. I don't know how but my eyes were not ready to find something else except the snake's eyes. My eyes were stuck to the snake's eyes. They were not even ready to blink. When unaware the snake attacked me. I was not harmed as a hand grabbed me and pulled me backwards. I think it may be Jake.

Jake's POV -
Lilly was busy making eye contact with the snake. After a couple of seconds, the snake crawled back a bit, I knew he'd come and attack Lilly with full power. As expected, the snake suddenly came towards us, fortunately, I grabbed Lilly and "Lilly!! Watch out!!" Saying this I pulled her closer to me (no romantic gestures). As the first attack made by the snake failed, that snake tried to attack us again. But ceasing his attacks I took Lilly's hand and taking her, I ran away from there.

Time skip - after nearly 15 minutes.

After being attacked by the snake we are safe now. Fortunately, both of us didn't get hurt at all.
After continuously running for some time both of us were too tired, Lilly was sitting on a tree trunk. She was breathing heavily. After some time her breathing came to normal. I knelt, placed my finger under her chin and lifted her face," are you alright??" I asked her in concern. She looked right into my eyes, "Jake... How can I be alright? Di- did you noticed that snake?? How hu-huge he was? Ca-can you be-belive we've lost one of our friends...! I don't know how will Troy react when he'll get to know that his best friend is no more." Saying this she busted into tears. I wanted to stop her from crying but I didn't, I wanted all her sorrow of Ben's death to come out through her tears. Hence, I gradually started walking to find something safe to stay at the night. I was checking out some random trees if we could take support from them. When a light caught my attention, I looked up and I should say we are too lucky that the light was coming from a house. I called Lilly, " Lilly look there. It's a house. We can stay there at night." Lilly looked at the house and said "ok... Let's go."
We reached near the house. Both of us were exhausted. When we reached there we found that it was not just a house but was kind of a bungalow. We pressed the house bell, but there existed no response, we again pressed the bell, no response. "Agghhhh!!!!" Saying this Lilly took the support of the door. When the door just opened with a creaking sound. We entered the house. There was no one at the entrance. Lilly was off to go inward but holding her back. I said, "Lilly wait.... Let's wait for someone. It's not a good thing to enter someone's house without their permission". "Agghhhh!! Ok!!" Said Lilly. "Hello! Is someone there??!! Excuse me, ANYONE'S THERE!!??"

(author note - hello!! I am back with another chapter. Sorry, this chapter took a long time but from now on I'll update the chapters a bit late. I am a bit busy with my studies and all stuff but I promise you that the next chapter will be published soon. Also, this chapter was a bit hard for me. Also sorry if I was not able to describe the scenario. I tried my best but please let me know if something like this happens I'll read all your comments and also implement them in my story.
