Still single

Arthit's pov

It is our monthly get-together at Bright's bar, just the five of us. Usually they all bring their partners but occasionally we have this away-from-the-commitments meet ups too as Toota likes to call it.

Toota says we all need that break which will help the relationship in the long run. I can't relate much as am still single. Single and 30... not a good combination for people who still have hopes of finding love. Anyways...

"Hey Arthit, here" Prem waved at me.

I went there sitting at our usual table, "Where's Bright?"

"Most likely at some corner sexting his boyfriend" Toota's reply made us laugh. Bright was the only playboy of our gang, to think that he is this whipped for Rome even after 6 years into the relationship, that's a miracle.

"So Arthit, Aunty called me" Knott started casually and I already know why mom called him.

"Not again Knott, at least not now" I sighed.

"How long are you planning to keep your ass single? She is worried" he continued as I rolled my eyes. My mom just wants grandchildren to boast around her neighborhood and I believe that is not enough reason for me to settle down. 

"And she requested me to set up some blind dates for her little baby" Bright plopped down next to Prem, cleverly away from my fists.

"Out of all, She asked you!? Oh my god... " I face palmed. Looks like my mom is really serious this time.

"Hey!! Don't be mean... My choice is way too good than any of you, Rome is the living example for that" Bright told us smugly.

"Yeah agreed, Rome is way too good for your stupid self" Toota countered as he avoided a punch from Bright. Then they started their usual bickering and we three ignored them as always.

We all started talking about our work and sometimes about our love life, the non-existent one when it comes to me. I love these special meet ups- with just us. I mean who likes to be with a bunch of lovesick fools who never forget to make you feel like the Nth wheel. They aren't doing it on purpose but its bound to happen and its also not their fault that am still alone.

"Hey guys, I met Kongpob somedays back!" I told them remembering the encounter.

Silence and a slight shock followed my sentence.

"You mean your husband from college days?" Toota asked blinking at me.

"Toota, you wanna die!?" I glared as everyone started to laugh at me. It's been almost a decade, why are they still teasing me with Kong?

"Sorry Arthit, felt nostalgic all of a sudden" Even Knott laughed at my expanse.

"Whatever, now, you guys won't laugh when I say where I met him and what he has become" I said grabbing their attention, I continued, "He is the CEO of the Siam Polymers, where my company signed a contract recently"

"Omg...Are you serious? But I've never seen his pictures anywhere" Prem wondered, "Even Wad didn't tell me...Wow" 

"I always thought he looked like some prince, his aura and all...but never imagined this" Knott said and I nodded, Yes, he did look like a Mr. Perfect, always stuck-up kind of guy to the point that it annoyed me back then. But now I see why he was like that, he is the heir to the Suthilak empire after all. My thoughts got interrupted by Toota's high shriek.

"Shit Arthit! you missed yourself a sugar daddy!! you should have agreed to date him back then" 

Now my temper is raising but before I could murder him Knott changed the topic, knowing my temperament. 

"Guys! I almost forgot, I have a good news to share" Knott said loudly. We all looked at him questioningly.

"Well, I proposed Irene and we decided to get married soon"

We all congratulated Knott. I am so happy for him, I used to worry about him as he is a little oblivious when it comes to romance.  I have seen girls try and flirt with this hard-head ending up in vain. But Irene is total opposite of Knott, she knows how to enjoy life. Together they make a wonderful couple. 

Its also funny how I used to worry about his love life, yet am the one living a worrisome single life. Well, am not desperate for love but sometimes it sucks to be alone.

"So when is your wedding?" Prem asked him.

"Haven't decided on that yet. But before all that, can we all go on a vacation as a celebration? Its been long since I've had one"

Everyone cheered at the idea.

"You guys can go, I'll pass" I told them as Bright dramatically gasped.

"Guys, Am really caught up with that Siam Polymers contract, I have no time for a vacation before that" I reasoned seeing their gloomy faces.

"How about after you are done with that work?" Prem asked as everyone looked at me hopefully. I remember how we used to just fucking hangout anywhere at anytime without any plans. But now.. adult life sucks, no time for friends and funs.

I chuckled at everyone, "Yes, that will do"

"Okay Its settled then. Knott invite our juniors too, and also don't forget Kongpob, I am sure he will gladly come with us" Toota smiled evilly looking at me.

This bitch...
