SHUDDER. I can see it again. I guess it will never end. The silhouette of a man or a woman walking around my room. It moves so fast then it slows down. Beads of sweat found it's way down my throat. My heartbeat raced like I was closer to the finish line of a race I am not in. I grasped on my quilt and recited the Lord's prayer with my eyes closed. Please Please go away. I pleaded in my mind. This madness started when I was still an infant. My mother never left me alone again in my crib. She said I was always crying and pointing into an empty space, sometimes even at the ceiling. They prayed over me hoping the silhouette I see or what they called a spirit would go away. But here it is now, never leaving me.
Then I felt something cold finding it's way into my skin. The cold lays itself into my arms like it was embracing me. I shivered. I didn't have the guts to open my eyes, I am so afraid. I wanted to scream for help but I couldn't find my voice. It was caressing my back. Shudder. I gripped more tightly on my quilt and recited the Lord's prayer in my mind. But it won't stop, then I found my lungs. "Mom! Dad! Help!" I shrieked.
After a moment, the cold feeling was gone and I opened my eyes gently. But I saw it! The silhouette, the cold one, it was staring right into my eyes, but it felt like it was looking into my soul. It has an terrifying rotting face! It's mouth was wide open and it's red eyes were huge.
"Leave me alone!" I cried out loud.
Gasp. It was only a dream! Thank god. I took a deep breath and wiped the sweat out of my face. I always had these nightmares and I'm sick of them. I have no idea why I'm having bad dreams like this even when I was young. My parents often think I'm strange. I just want it gone.
SOMEONE tapped my window, surprising me. Shaye Longwood; my bestfriend since I'm still on diapers. We grinned at each other. "Get the fuck up." She mouthed thinking that I'm still not dressed for the adventure. She somehow calls our 'sneaking out in the middle of the night' as "the adventure". I lift away my quilt showing her that I'm already dressed and raised my eyebrow.
Shaye rolled her eyes. "Open the window." She mouthed again.
I hurried to open my window to let her in. Shaye entered my room wearing her signature black fitted leather jeans and gray The Ramones tank top. She was in her strappy hooker heels. Me, on the other hand, wore a mini skirt, a cropped shirt showing my tiny waist, shiny leather jacket, worn out stockings and boots. All black.
"You look rad." Shaye said.
"You too." I winked. "So where's the adventure this time?"
"It's a secret!" Shaye exclaimed. Me and Shaye are the total opposites; Shaye is the small one, has fiery red hair and a loud personality while me, on the other hand is quite the average height, long black hair, not-so-normal smokey violet eyes and very serious type of girl. Or should I say, boring.
Someone knocked on my door and I'm praying that it isn't my parents or else I'm dead. Myles, my younger brother suddenly bolted in. I huffed with relief. "Oh thank goodness, it's you. Why are you still awake Myles?"
"Hi Myles!" Shaye greeted.
Myles gave Shaye a smug smile. "Where are you going again, Nina? Are you really trying to get yourself in trouble?" Myles told me as he puts his glasses on.
"I wouldn't be if you just go back to your room and sleep." I said. Myles stared at me disappointedly. I sighed and place my hands on his shoulders. "I'll be okay, Myles. Trust me. I know you're on my side."
