Part 37 : Messy Head

This chapter is a little dull I would say but I don't think Sterling is going to be forgiving to Sean.(The driver)

April's POV

And there she was.

Sterling was laying in bed, unconscious.She was probably alone in there, having nightmares.It's probably cold and lonely.

And all she could remember was my face as she laid on the floor, struggling to keep her eyes open.

She had all these cables around her and casts around her neck, legs and even her arms.It's a sickening and heartbreaking sight.She doesn't deserve it at all.

The only parts that weren't even covered by the casts and cables were her thumb, hair and face.Only parts where she could feel me when I touch her.If she ever feel me.

The situation only aroused intense feelings of sadness and it was such a sight to behold, having to watch Sterling at this state.

"Sterling.Oh, thank the high heavens you're alive." Mrs Stevens carefully and slowly caress Sterling's hair as Mr Stevens and I stood by her sides.

I excused myself to give them a moment with Sterling to say their prayers and what not before I did.I mean her parents have been praying since we got to the hospital for Sterling to make it out alright.

It's probably all my fault,I should not have kept her long and allowed her to go home.She wouldn't be in this accident if I did that.

What have I done?

The Stevens came out soon after and it was my turn.

"Just you and me,Sterl." I slowly approached her and I just..this is-

My eyes were too tired to cry and my heart couldn't stand this.

"You're gonna be just fine.We're gonna be just fine, okay? Everyone will be praying for you and I'll be here.Every step of the way."

She didn't respond,simply there, eyes shut.

"I would quote Isaiah to you but you know it.So Jeremiah 30 : 17 For I will restore health unto thee and I will heal thee of thy wounds.Cause Sterling, you are my world." I caressed her thumb and managed a small smile.

"Oh Sterling." I let out as my face fell flat on her bed and buried myself under the covers ,crying.

"I will stay with you, always."

Before I knew I was asleep and my fingers tugging onto her thumb.

The faint sound of Sterling's voice woke me up and I thought it was just a dream but it wasn't.Sterling's eyes were opening up, slowly.

"Anyone?" She whispered and the bright light envelopes her as she blinked a couple times, readjusting herself to the surroundings.

"Sterling...you're awake." I stood up and smiled, looking over her.This is amazing.She's finally awake.

"Where am I? Who are you..." She furrowed her brows, looking at me.

"I'm April.Your girlfriend."

"Girlfriend? Aren't you April from high school?" She muttered and looked around.

"No,no.I'm your girlfriend,Sterling.Remember...?" I pulled out my phone and showed her my background picture.

It was us, and I was kissing her on the cheek as she smiled.It's my favourite picture of us because it was right after we went to the movies.
