April's POV

Sunday service always get the best of me, that's when every family in the community attends it including Luke's and Sterling's.

Mom keeps pestering me about my love life which I find it really weird and irritating.

"Cmon, whose the lovely lady or man you're dating?"
Mom nudged me by the sides and I sighed.

"It's a woman,Mom and I don't think you're ready to meet her.I thought you were homophobic like Dad."
I pointed out and focused on Pastor Booth.

"Don't think so little of me.When you came out,I told you I already know.Your dad is the big homo,
I respect everyone regardless of their sexuality."

That wasn't exactly reassuring.

"What are you implying? That you're a great ally all these years...because that's hilarious." I scoffed.

I took a quick glance at Sterling.I caught her staring at me and I blushed.

"Such an idiot..." I muttered and my mom furrowed her brows. "What?"

"Ooooh...is she from church?" She looks around and I nodded.

"Is it the Montgomery's? Or or Hannah B?"

"Definitely not the Montgomery and cmon, Hannah B is my best friend. And we already talked about this,I will tell you when I'm ready."

Mom finally kept her chatty side to herself all through service,giving me peace.

Once service was over,I was going to head over to the Wesley's but that will only give away such a big hint to Mom.

I texted Sterling instead before she starts to approach me.

Sterling 💜

Let's meet later.I don't want my Mom to see us together.

Fine...let's go to the movies! Black Widow is out and I can't keep Florence Pugh waiting.

Johansson.

It's not my fault they put Florence Pugh in the movie to seduce me.

"So what did you think about the movie?" Sterling sips of what's left of the drink as we walked out of the theatre.

"I thought it was great." I replied coldly.

"Hey,what's wrong?" Sterling stops mid way and pulls me aside.

"My mom's been even more chatty than she usually is.She's asking about my love life but she doesn't know it's you." I let out and Sterling smiled.

"I don't mind if you tell her.I've been meaning to have a one on one talk with Mrs Steven."

"She's planning something...I can feel it.I mean all this time,she's always been defensive about the gays.
And now she's saying she's all supportive of me having a girlfriend."
