Lux Umbra (Light) POV
The men were dying left and right, arms flying and blood pouring, I had no doubt that by tomorrow the crows would be feasting and the plants would be drowned in the crimson lifeblood that all humans had running through their veins
I struck down yet another demon, the same way I had been doing for the last few days, the battle never-ending as more and more demons joined the fray, soon we would run out of warriors and be overwhelmed by the wave of fire and ash
The only really good thing was that the new generals were decimating the enemy lines in complete synchrony, each time one was in danger another would cover their back and crush the demon attacking them, all while keeping a casual conversation going, as though they weren't in the middle of what many would consider the end of 'man', then again, those were the ones that didn't know about all the other planets around the universe
A few hours later
The hoards were finally letting up, seems the demons were retreating back to the fortresses, for the time being, though it didn't make sense as they were clearly winning the fight, it's not like them to back off at the brink of victory
I turned to my left and saw Jane just a couple of meters away watching the demons fall back while instructing some troops to not follow by the looks of it. I ran over to her and gave a polite nod before speaking
"Can you gather the weapon wielders in the command tent? We need to talk about why the demons retreated. I'll go get the new generals, I want to check them out" I asked, Jane, gained a smile I didn't particularly like "Sure, just make sure to be subtle" Before walking away
"What?" I said in confusion before looking at the troops from earlier, all of which looked like they were trying to stifle their laughter... mortals really are strange creatures. I made a quick dash to where I could see the group resting together under a tree
"Hello, I called for a meeting in the command tent, would you mind joining us?" I asked while eyeing the weapons they wielded and how they reacted, they went rather stiff when I arrived
The leader of the group, the one wearing a black coat, nodded before motioning the others to stand and follow, no words were spoken, strange. It doesn't matter though, there are more pressing things to deal with at the moment
Y/N POV
I had solved the problem of the void centaurs quite some time ago, now I was just walking around and enjoying the views before I returned back to claim my prize. I didn't have high hopes for the blade they promised me but it could be an interesting item to have
"Master, shouldn't we go back and claim the reward?" Akel asked from behind me, he vampiric features hidden from sight, "Not yet Akel, we must make it look like we tracked them, and void beings are very difficult to track so if we returned to early it would look like we knew about them all along" I spoke with a dismissive wave of my hand
"Then what do you wish to do Master?" She asked in return, "Hmm, just relaxing would be nice. My power levels are still low as the rest of my powers remain in the void, untouchable by all meanings of the word" I responded
"As you wish Mast-" Akel came to a sudden hault and turned to face our left, her eyes glowing red while she glared into the woods, "What is the matter Akel?" I asked as I followed her sight, not spotting anything I turned back to see her body taunt and ready for action, her sword resting by her side
"I hear something master, just being ready incase-" Akel was interrupted as a weird humanoid being coming running out the forest, its axe raised high as its feat thunde4red on the ground. Akel was ready though and delivered a strong punch right in the forehead making a loud ringing sound
"Hmm, what a strange creature" I said as the thing charge again "But its not worth out time, kill it" and with just a nod Akel brought her sword down at the things neck sliceing through the thick bone and coming out the otherside
*Thunk* *Boom*
I nodded before preparing to continue our walk, only to stop as more thundering footsteps were heard "Seems there are more. Akel,", "yes master?", "Are there any humans nearby?", "Not that I sense", I laughed lightly
"Good. Release your full form" I commanded as a grin split my face, avoid sword appearing in my hand, "As you wish master"
Akels back split open as 4 bloody bone wings came out behind her, her ears grew to long points and a gold halo floated above her head. From the forest emerged 50 of the monsters, each charging with no from of a strategy
"Guess they are mindless, oh well just more target practice I suppose" I leaped forward at the closest one and brought my sword down form above, the sharp edge cutting through one of the things head and splitting them in half
I rotated on my heel and blocked a powerful strike from an axe the power breaking beneath my feat "You are quite strong, to bad your mindless" I ducked under an incoming axe letting it hit the chest of the one I was previously fighting leaving a massive scar in its chest before it fell down breaking the ground beneath it
I dodged out the way of another attack before thrusting my sword through another chest before making a new sword and throwing it off somewhere in the hoard a loud thunk following shortly after
"Four down in 5 seconds, I must be slightly rusty, how are you doing Akel?" I turned to look at my servant just in time to see her rip the head off one with her bear hands, another neck chomped between her teeth while she stood on a pile of 10 bodies
Akels eyes focused on me with an insane glint in her eye before she dropped her food and proceeded to rip apart another in less than a second and continue on to the next. "...Well, I cant be out shone can I?"
I turned quickly before rushing into a cluster of them, picking up one of the fallen axe before putting all my strength into a single swing while still 5 meters away from them all
*Thunk* *Boom* *Splat*
The feet of the bodies remained upright while their tops fell off, the airpressure from my attack cleaving trough the forest all the way to the end and still continuing on "Huh, wonder when that will stop", I just shrugged and continued to fight, this time with far less power in my swing
"What is it with mortals and playing with demonic energy lately?"
