This book has been made to fix that in a way to satisfy you if you were mad or upset with the ending or movie overall, like me. However, what happened is still canon
Basically I will make it so what happened at the end of the movie happens BUT after is better. Jim still knows what is meant to happen and is trying to make the outcome happy for everyone in the movie so all the death and misery didn't happen I guess.

"Only the TrollHunter will know." This may not mean that it will remain like this forever, it is simply a warning for the challenges that Jim will face when he goes back. Jim is the only one who will start of knowing and its up to him to fill everyone in. Yes
"Somewhere, sometime, our story will continue"- Blinky. I took this quote more seriously if you read the book so that the plot makes sense.
From the words of Jim, "If it was meant to be, it will be", so key moments and events will still happen in this book at least.
"If things can happen differently, Jim can save them all"- Aja
"And if we are meant to meet, our stars will align"- Aja
"Whatever happens, don't give up on me. Don't stop trying until I love you" - Claire. She was literally the last thing Jim thought about before he left and I think that is very cool.
