"Arrrgh!!!" I snap my head up, not really in the mood to deal with anymore shit. Nora launches herself across me and into Denna, who was looking at me with wide eyes. "Ahhh!!" Nora starts throwing punches, slapping, and elbowing. Anything to do damage. Her screams of anguish drown out Denna's cries of pain. She's lost it.
My eyes pop out as I watch the scene, fumbling to get up and help Denna. What does she think she's doing to Denna?! Denna's face is contorted in pain and fear. No, no, no no no. I rush into the battle, immediately getting whacked in the head, but I push on, not afraid of pain anymore.
I grab Nora's right hand while Terri tries to pull her back from the waist. I hear shouts from Kai and see his hands in the mess of limbs. "What are you doing Nora?!" I shout. She ignores me. Doesn't even look at me.
Catching glimpses of her here and there from our scuffle, her eyes look deranged. They're angry, and shedding tears at the same time. She looks lost and defeated. Like she doesn't care about anything anymore. Is it because Denna is my wife? Is it because I still love her?
"Denna!!" Kai bellows.
"Can't you all just stop causing trouble for once!!" Ophelia shouts from her corner but everyone ignores her.
We're finally able to separate the two but Nora still thrashes in our arms. She roars, claws, growls. Denna scrambles back and with the help of Terri, stands back on her own two feet. Bruises and cuts are already visible all around.
Seeing her in pain, I automatically rush over to her. "Denna! Are you okay?" She flinches away from me.
"You really remember?" She asks, barely more than a whisper.
"Yes, yes I remember. I'm sorry for forgetting. I'm sorry you had to go through all of that." I direct that last apology at Terri. "I'm sorry I left you guys." I almost start sobbing again, desperate to get everything out. "I'm so happy you're alive-"
"AHHHHHH!!!" Nora cries in agony. She locks eyes with me, pure hatred and rage in her eyes, nothing of the sharp and kind eyes of the girl I fell in love with.
She easily slips out of Kai's grasp and flings herself at me. "Ahhh!!" I put my hands up and close my eyes. At the same time, another tremor shakes the jet. I fling, luckily, into the couch. I hear thuds all around and grunts. A crash here. Another scream there.
Then I open my eyes to assess the damage. Most of the furniture is broken and knocked all over the place. A window has a crack in it. Denna is helping Terri up. I'm upside down on the couch. Ophelia is getting up off the ground. Kai sitting in a seat, clutching his leg. Nora is...lying still on the ground.
A flashback of when the knife embedded itself into Nora's neck flickers in my mind. How still she was, her dull eyes, the pain I felt.
A pool of blood slowly spreads out around her.
Another flashback of the first night after waking up on the train. A girl tripped over me, she hit her head and died in an instant, the smell from the pool of blood filling up my nose.
I'm frozen in place, unable to move, not wanting to check. If I don't check, it won't be real, right? I won't know. She's taking a nap. She's sleeping. This is all happening too fast, why does life change so fast? Why can't we go back to a few minutes before? Or to before we lost Dominic. Before we left the train, when I actually saw something ahead of us. Me, Nora, Kai, and Dominic. Before I remembered.
"Nora!!" Kai tumbles and falls, unable to stand on his own. He crawls on his stomach to Nora, hastily flipping her over to check her vitals. The jet holds its breath as everyone watches. Kai checks, then checks again, and then again.
"No. No no no!" He starts screaming. "Nora!!" No one moves. No one says anything. No one breathes, and my heart breaks a little bit more.
