I was drying my hair when the screen of my phone lit up. I immediately picked it up and saw Maddie calling.
"Ma'am Cordova, the board is on a meeting right now," she hastily said, almost whispering.
"What is it about? At bakit hindi ko 'yan alam?"
"Hindi ko nga rin po alam. Urgent meeting daw po pero hindi ako sinabihan."
"Thank you for letting me know, Maddie. I'll handle it."
I ended the call and bit my lower lip. I have a bad feeling about this.
I called someone from the board to know what's going on. Conveniently enough, they're all in a meeting right now.
"Miss Cordova," he greeted with a monotonous tone as if he anticipated my call.
"What's this urgent meeting that I don't know of? I thought that we have a clear agreement that I'm still handling matters of the company even if I'm not there."
"We're in clashing time zones, Miss Cordova."
"That doesn't matter, I'm the one who'll adjust. What's your agenda for that meeting?"
A long silence was exchanged between the line. I can hear the faint discussions of the people in the room, as I sit on the bed waiting.
He cleared his throat before replying, "Miss Cordova, your father has been non-stop negotiating with us to tell him where you are. In the course of our agreement, the details of this project are still confidential. We understand that you have your own plans for your trip, but we think that you might be distracted with work and your personal goals."
"I'm still doing my job. Kung gusto niyo, I'll send you all of my reports from previous travels para mapanatag kayo."
"All right." I heard him excuse himself, "Graciela, we've been partners for years, I don't want to tell you this but your father has been convincing the other board members that you are incompetent for your position since bigla ka na lang daw nawala."

My eyes squinted at what he said. I didn't fully comprehend it and he ended the call already. I was still baffled by his statement and I can't get it out of my head until I got out of my hotel.
My head was playing with the clouds again and I can't be bothered to walk in this state. I took the metro system here in Athens and headed to the Acropolis.
