As far as you could see there were trees, the leaves bright with the colours of autumn. You marvelled at the way they danced and spun in the air as the breeze carried them, it was such a pretty sight you couldn't help but gawk.
Fred sat across from you, resting quietly on the old blanket spread across the browning grass. Even though he was to shy to say it, you looked beautiful. The way the sun seemed to light up your h/c hair and your pretty e/c eyes shone was something of a beauty to him.
"It's rather chilly for a picnic." Was what he said instead.
You tear your eyes from the scenery and look at him "Hm? Oh! Yes I suppose it is." You say with a slight sheepish tone.
Fred hid a soft smile underneath his scarf and just shrugged a bit.
You had gone through the trouble of cooking and choosing the perfect spot for this little date, although the air had a slight nip to it, you still insisted on eating outside for a picnic.
Fred didn't mean to come across as rude but he couldn't tell you were slightly hurt.
Were all your efforts wasted?
No.
Fred reached out and took a piece of the apple cobbler you baked and smiled while eating it.
Your heart soared with joy, he was pleased!
You unscrew the thermos you had and poured steaming hot coco in your tea cup then offered some to Fred.
"Moran told me you like to drink this." You said with a small smile.
Fred blushed just the slightest while taking the cup and blew on its contents.
"You asked Moran about me?"
Now it was your turn to blush.
"W-well I just wanted to know what kinds of things you liked to eat and drink." You said and quickly took a sip of your drink.
Fred just smiled in response.
Although it was quiet, it wasn't an awkward moment.
The two of you had a comfortable silence about you. Of course Fred was just naturally quiet so you followed suite.
Fred looked at your hand, the finger tips were slightly red from the chill in the air but none the less, you paid no mind and enjoyed watching the leaves.
Fred hesitated but reached out to hold your hand.
It caught you by surprise, he could tell but you just gave him a closed eye smile before letting your gaze wander off again.
Fred took the moment since you were distracted to really study your features.
"So pretty." He murmured than cringed slightly, not meaning to say it out loud.
You perk up and look at him with a grin and a nod while pointing around at the surrounding forest "I know! That's what I was thinking too." You say with a smile.
Fred paused.
Oh.
He realized you were talking about the nature.
There was another moment of silence before Fred decided to man up.
"No. I'm talking about you."
You blush again before looking at him warmly.
"You really think so...?" You asked while turning to him completely.
Fred nodded slowly "Yes."
With your hands intwined together Fred leaned foreword a bit and decided to kiss you.
It was short but sweet and tasted of hot chocolate.
You melt into it quickly but Fred pulls back before it turns into anything else and just smiles softly.
"I had fun today y/n."
You smile at him happily.
"So did I."
