The fresh air splashed against Chanhee's face, the stuffy suffocating building finally left behind as a lost memory, leaving the deafening music to a silent night, cars driving by faintly, crickets chirping to break what would otherwise be silence.
He could breathe.
"Did you drive here?" Changmin asked hushed. Chanhee blinked rapidly, he found himself constantly at a loss for words around this guy and they hadn't even spoken long.
"Yeah," Chanhee said dazedly before correcting himself. "But it's not my car, I was just meant to drive my friend home."
"Ah, I'm still wondering who this friend of yours is,." Chanhee titled whilst Changmin clicked his tongue in fake annoyance. "But how were you going to get home then?"
"I usually just ride the bus or borrow my friend's car, I don't go out much and we're roommates, so it makes sense." Changmin chuckled and Chanhee thought over why before blushing at the realization he might have overshared again. At the back of his mind, Chanhee noted how peculiar it was, he wasn't one to get bashful or flustered, he never gave his words a second thought but Changmin seemed to make him overthink everything, think of himself at how the other would receive it, but he also thought of Changmin, the tiny smile he wore, the soft gravel to his voice. It wasn't something you forgot easily.
"Well then, do you want to ride with me?"
"Where?"
"I don't know." Changmin broke out into a wide toothy smile, the look of a beast who can never be tamed, a look Chanhee had never seen before, maybe on Sunwoo once, but Sunwoo rarely tried crazy things with Chanhee, calling the other a "kitten" (a/n, he really meant a pus-). Staying in the comfort of his home, if he didn't have to go out he'd be reading and relaxing there, the only time he went out was for work, and considering he was on vacation, this clubbing experience was the first time Chanhee had went out in months. To say the least, Chanhee was neither an outside person, nor a risk taker. "So? What do you say?"
But for Changmin he could try.
"Sure." Chanhee placed his hand in Changmin's now pulling them forward, Changmin's smile faltered for a second with shock but Chanhee couldn't see, running on ahead with no clue to where he was meant to go but filled with adrenaline, energized by a new found confidence. That confidence however deflated really quick. By the time Chanhee realized he was walking with no directions he let go of Changmin's hand, rubbing at his neck bashfully. Changmin laughed at the black haired boy as he slung an arm around his shoulder. Walking with Chanhee's pace as he silently led the way.
"So, Chanhee, you go clubbing often?" Chanhee chuckled a little at the question.
"No, like I said before, I came today to drive my friend back home in case they got drunk." Chanhee felt himself become small with his next words, letting his voice fade out. "Usually I just stay at home."
"What do you like to do then?"
"Oh, I just do work related things." Chanhee waved his hands lazily, brushing it off.
"What do you work as, if you don't mind me asking?"
Chanhee felt his heart drop a little, tripping up a little but recovering quick to go back at his previous pace
"Oh nothing, just a lot of." Chanhee hesitated for only a second. "Writing?"
It wasn't a complete lie, he did write, and sang, and composed, and rapped horribly during interviews. Chanhee is what most called a musician though he didn't feel that way. He just wrote and sang songs from his room, occasionally conversing with his label and manager. It wasn't a surprise Changmin didn't recognize him, Chanhee was a pretty small artist who never showed his face or real name, working under the pseudonym of 'New.' Chanhee decided it was best to leave all that for later if they ever spoke again, and luckily Changmin dropped the topic quickly but with a pout. It was a great contrast to his more outgoing outfit, but also oddly cute.
