"Did you eat?"
"Dinner? Yeah, but it's been 9 hours since then." Chanhee nearly felt like he would faint, he'd pull all-nighters in college and high school but growing up and getting a job meant he had to get up for work early and so he tried to become a better sleeper, live a better life. Now here he was in a stranger's house at 3:30am with nothing better to do than stand in the small entry as Changmin threw his keys, and coat, walking in casually.
"I cooked some noodles a few days ago and have just been finishing those, so I don't know if you'd like me to make you something new or-"
Chanhee hastily said, "Noodles are fine." to which Changmin gave a shy smile back.
"Alright, take your shoes off, there are slippers in the cabinet." Changmin gestured to the small oak cabinet right next to Chanhee then to a white couch further inside that Chanhee could barely make out.
As Chanhee followed the instructions, Changmin walked off to the right of the entry, presumably heading to the kitchen. Chanhee later walked to the left, approaching the open living room. A large flat screen tv surrounded by books, statues, and other mini trinkets. A large "L" shaped couch faced the tv, a tiny wooden coffee table on top of white woolen carpet in the middle. The floor was made of marble tiles, white with grey (a/n or gray for the americans) cracks to match the pale snow walls. Everything was smooth and crisp, shining from the hanging lights that were lit.
Chanhee stood in awe and randomly yelled out, "You cook too?"
To his surprise, Changmin heard and called back from the kitchen, "Yeah, not like I have a personal chef." Chanhee coughed a laugh.
Off handedly he threw his inner thoughts, "I thought you were super rich, you having one wouldn't be a surprise."
Changmin walked into the living room again, leaning against the doorframe to the kitchen.
"Oh come on, spending money on someone to cook for me feels bad, as an adult I should be able to cook some things. Now, are you secretly telling me you don't trust my cooking or do you want some?"
Chanhee chuckled a little, "Well good on you, and if you don't mind, I'd like to try some of your cooking now." Changmin laughed, coming over to give a quick pat on Chanhee's back, before disappearing back into the kitchen.
Chanhee's eyes lingered at the entrance before shifting his weight, and checking his surroundings again. Chanhee had already assumed Changmin was rich as his suit seemed to be from some luxury brand, and being in a club probably meant something. At the same time, the complex still surprised him, he wasn't sure what to expect of a rich person's home, maybe a large mansion, multiple servants with their own quarters, whatever fantasy he had conjured, wasn't Changmin's place. He first noticed the walls and flooring but that was just the living room. When first entering one would be faced with an open floor, far back was a large balcony, facing out to city lights, twinkling like the beach's ocean in the early crack of dawn. Glass windows faced the front, to the right was a half wall peeping into shining countertops and the rest of the kitchen. Chanhee didn't spare a glance that way, feeling it'd be invasive to really look anywhere other than his own two feet. The beeping of a microwave stopped and Changmin walked back with a plate of japchae in either hand.
"Take a seat." Changmin said cheerily as he sat down himself. "For as much as I talked about my cooking, I'll admit I'm not the best so I'm sorry if this isn't to your taste" Changmin placed a plate upon the table and then a pair of chopsticks on the plate. Awkwardly Chanhee sat down, placing his coat to the side, and delicately picking up the chopsticks as if he moved any quicker a bomb would go off. Changmin on the other hand looked quite comfortable, probably because this was his own home, his territory. Chanhee got lost in the swirls as the glass noodles intertwined with each other lovingly, mixed with vegetables and meat.
