Summary: Bucky and Steve make a mistake due to not knowing your greatest fear.

Your boys had decided that a nice day at the compound outside pool was needed. You reluctantly agreed only because they seemed way too excited about it and you couldn't bare to break their hearts or worry them. You couldn't swim. Actually, it was more than that. You were terrified of being in water. Boats were fine, as long it was the massive warships and there were quinjets to take if it were to sink. But that was literally the only exception.

As part of the Avengers, you knew how being scared of water sounded. That is why only a few people knew. Fury and Hill, because they were your old bosses at SHIELD, and Tony, because his AI sees all. The three of them vowed to keep your secret, especially because it never interfered with any mission.

Steve, Bucky, and yourself had been dating each other for almost a year, and it had never come up. And you didn't see a need for it, so you simple avoided the whole thing in general.

So that's how you ended up lounging in a chair beside Tony's extremely large, deep pool while reading a book. Your boys were messing around in the pool.

"Come on, honey!" Steve called out to you. "Just come join us!"

"Yeah!" Bucky agreed. "We can just float."

"I'm good right here boys," you responded, barely glancing at them through your sunglasses. "My book and the sun is just what I need."

You went back to focusing on your book, missing the mischievous looks that Bucky and Steve gave each other. It should have concerned you, but you were too engrossed with your book to notice. The boys had slipped out of the pool and tipped toed over to you. They were standing behind you. Steve mouthed a small count down to Bucky. After one, Bucky ripped the book out of your hand and Steve flung you over his shoulder.

"What are you doing?!" You screamed, beginning to panic. Steve was rushing you towards the pool. "LET ME GO!"

"Let you go?" Steve chuckled. "Alright!"

"NNNNOOOOOO!!! STEVEEEE!!"

Steve sent you flying towards the center of the pool. Your limbs were flailing about as you screamed bloody-murder. You caught a glance of the boys hysterically laughing as you finally hit the water. The instant your body was completely submerged, you froze. The panic talking a complete hold of you. Internally, your mind was screaming at your body to move and to get air, but you couldn't. The boys were still standing at the edge of the pool, their laughters dying down.

"What are you guys laughing about?" Tony wondered as he came over to join them.

"We just tricked Y/N and throw her into the pool," Bucky answered.

"What?! You have to get her out of there!"

"Why?" Steve asked.

"She can't swim! She's terrified of water."

"WHAT?!" The boys exclaimed.

"W-we didn't know," Bucky stammered.

"What are you standing here for?! Get her out of there," Tony ordered.

Bucky quickly dove in after you. Steve was frozen in his spot, staring down at your blurry figure in the water. His mind was beginning the blame game with him. He was the one who had through you in the water. He was the one who had promised to always protect you, yet he was the one who hurt you.

Bucky had never swam faster in his life. He could see you in the water, completely unmoving. Which was absolutely terrifying. Holding you tightly to him by his metal arm, Bucky swam up to the surface. Steve was still in his frozen spot as Bucky gasped for air and made sure your face was out of the water. Tony was crouched down to help Bucky get you out of the water. Once Bucky was close enough, he lifted you towards the man. Tony pulled you onto the cement, immediately checking for your pulse.
