James Buchanan "Bucky" Barnes had changed your life in the instant you met him. You were all the phone, talking to a coworker, as you were crossing the street. Out of nowhere, a car came barreling towards you. You didn't notice it until Bucky was suddenly in front of you, blocking the car with his mental arm. You shrieked as Bucky kept his arm up and kept you close with his other one. The car came to a trembling stop, but Bucky's sole focus was you.

"Are you alright, ma'am?" Bucky asked, eyes scanning your body for a sign of injury.

"I—I—I'm ok—okay," you stammered, adrenaline pumping through your body.

"Are you sure?"

"Mhm," you nodded.

Bucky could tell that you were in shock. He swept you up in his arms and carried you over to the side walk. He sat on the curb, holding you, until emergency services arrived.

"Thank you," you whispered before being taken away.

Bucky gave you a small smile, watching as you were placed in the ambulance and driven off.

You and Bucky could not stop thinking about each other. He hated that he didn't know your name while you were pretty sure that he was the Bucky Barnes.

Weeks past since that incident and it saddened you to think that you may never run into Bucky again. You were walking down the street, heading back home from work, when a man pulled a knife on you and tugged you into the nearby alley.

"Give me your purse!" The masked man demanded.

"Please don't hurt me!" You begged.

He pressed his knife closer to you. "Give me your purse!"

Before you could make a move, the man was forcefully pulled away from you and thrown against the opposite wall. Your eyes widened when you realized who it was.

Bucky pushed the man up against the wall. "If I ever find you threatening anyone again," he warned, "you will have to deal with me. Now, run off."

The man scrambled off, out of the alley, before Bucky turned to face you. He froze when it finally realized who it was.

"You," he breathed out.

You gave a shy smile. "I promise I'm not trying to get into situations like this."

His lips quirked up in a small smirk. "You sure?"

You nodded. "Thank you for saving me again, Bucky."

"You— You know who I am?"

"I'm pretty sure you're the only man in New York with a metal arm."

He glanced down at his arm before snapping this attention back to you. "Yeah, I guess..."

"I'm Y/N."

Now Bucky was cursing himself for not asking your name. "Nice to meet you, Y/N."

"You know I want you

It's not a secret I try to hide

I know you want me

So don't keep sayin' our hands are tied

You claim it's not in the cards

And fate is pullin' you miles away

And out of reach from me

But you're here in my heart

So who can stop me if I decide

That you're my destiny?"
