First Dance - 9:30 pm

Calum had somehow ended up right at the edge of the dancefloor, watching as Michael and Ashton shared their first dance. They moved mostly elegantly, excluding Michael's feet, until they shared a look and they both started beckoning people onto the dance floor, first their parents and steadily those in the wedding, the ring girl, the flower girl, their tipsy bumbling fathers joining them so they could stand on their dress shoes.

The MC and the ushers, who then tugged Calum onto the dance floor. He laughed uncomfortably as he felt eyes land on him and twisted around searching desperately for a familiar face until they landed on Luke standing next to his 'date'. When their eyes met he raised his brows at him, whose eyes widened in return, as if asking 'me?' and Calum nodded and somewhat unsurely Luke joined him on the dancefloor.

"Thank you," Calum said quietly as Luke stepped into his arms, and they joined the steadily growing group on the floor.

"You're doing a good job today," Luke told him equally quietly, as they turned Calum realised the number of people had grown so much that the happy couple was well out of sight. The rest of the guests were awkwardly swaying with strangers or tenderly embracing their partners, teenagers awkwardly milled around the edges of the dancefloor waiting for the music to change to something that wouldn't require dancing embarrassingly close.

Calum hummed "so I don't look as miserable as everyone's imagining me to be?" he asked smiling smugly before resting his head uncertainly on Luke's shoulder.

The other man laughed and his hand moved from Calum's waist to between his shoulder blades, bringing their chests almost completely together.

"It's just in your head," Luke assured, they both knew he was lying but the song was drawing to a close and Calum felt almost a little sad as the thought of putting that distance back between them. As the song built to its end Luke pulled back and Calum pretended not to feel dejected, then Luke raised his eyebrows teasingly as he spun him out of his arms and then back in again.

Calum gave him a startled look as he continued to dance, guiding Calum, laughing as he did until the song concluded and everyone separated from their partners and began to clap. Some people moved off the dancefloor and others waited, chattering to create a low hum as they waited for the next song to start.

Calum watched as Michael and Ashton appeared through the crowd and headed back toward their table with linked hands.

"So, do you have Best Man duties to attend to now? Or can we go to the bar?" Luke asked, smiling, and Calum was almost tempted to ask for one more dance.

"No, I think I have time for a drink," he said instead.
